Bacon is the king of meats.
Go to a frozen lake where a lot of fishermen are set up. Pull out a coleman stove and start frying some bacon. The smell drifting across the ice is miraculous, and powerful. It can make you forget about your frozen toes for an instant. Bacon can make anyone your friend. Ever feel lonely and depressed whilst eating bacon? I seriously doubt it! |

Quoted: That article is (almost, if not) word for word out of a thread that I have read HERE. I believe it must have been one of our members who contributed it to BHM. MIKE That would be sweet. Do you have a link to the post here? As an aside: My 5-yo daughter, since the day she could talk, has said she's "Daddy's girl". This morning she comes into my room and jumps on me Her: "I'm Mommy's Girl!". Me: "What?!?! You're my girl!" Her: "Nope, not anymore, I'm Mommy's girl" Me: "Why? What did mommy do to make you her girl?" Her: "Daddy, she made me BACON!" So, yeah, she is Daddy's girl! -Slice |

MIKE Is it the one where you lay out three layers on parchment paper, roll them up tight, stuff in mason jar, and then pressure can them as is ("dry" can with no fluid added)? I remember that thread, and I've seen that recipe posted around the net in multiple locatins. The original writeup I'm referring to had the writer substituting craft paper (grocery bag style) since they didn't have any parchment available... Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

| So has anyone else tried this? I did 3 qts last night. I get a really thick sliced bacon on cale at safeway occasionally. It is sold in 6# packages. I used 3 # to make 3 qts. 11 slices/lb. Parchment paper worked very well. with about 1" of liquid and another 1" of grease on to of that. Sealed down perfectly. The storage length question is the big think I wonder about. I suppose I will just buy it when on sale and we will roated through our jars. I haver another 6# package to can once I get more parchment paper. |
