I've been listening to Glenn Beck recently and noticed that one of his sponsors is a company called FoodInsurance. They can ship you pre-packaged meals in different quantities based on how many people and how long a period of time you would feel the need to buy for. Has anyone had any experience with this company and their product and could you comment on the food quality ?

FoodInsurance - Maker of line of freeze-dried entrees and snacks that have a longer shelf life than canned or bagged goods.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      I already have about a 6 month supply of canned goods-rice-beans etc that I  use and replenish as necessary. I'm thinking of this as an addition to those stocks in case the supply chain was to get seriously interrupted by either an economic or some other problem. Didn't think I needed to go into more detail as to the "WHY" I was considering them since this is the "SURVIVAL FORUM"..

Is there a grocery store nearby?
They sell food there, probably all stocked up today.

Its amazing how cheap you can stack food deep just buying on sale. We eat alot of pasta here but we could literally live off our normal pantry for a year.  Every winter our pantry is what feeds us. We really only hit the store for fresh produce and meat as needed.

I have also heard him advertising for these guys.  He has a pretty good track record with companies.  I don't think he deals with crooks.

If you just need a long term storage item, I think these would be okay.  I want most of my food storage to be stuff that I normally eat and use.  I have been tempted many times to spend the money and get some of this stuff, but it's easier to go to walmart and spend 50 bucks once in a while than to drop the $500-$2000 that these types of programs typically run.

I will probably buy some of this stuff one of these days.  Maybe it will be my christmas present to my wife.  She can thank me later.

She's into the SF mainly because it keeps me from doing anything "really" crazy.  I bought her a vacuum cleaner for her birthday, so she wouldn't be surprised by freeze dried food.

BTW:  If you show up to take my guns after she kills me, offer her half of what they are actually worth.  She'll think you are paying double.

We've had a bunch of these posts since Beck started talking about prepping in the last few weeks.

I have several samples from Food Ins, Wise Foods, and a few other places. To me it's all comparable to Mtn House.

Actually, I'm not kidding.  She has no idea how much I have into a couple of rifles.  Now I'm thinking I should tell her, just in case.  I don't want to see her lose a couple grand because my fellow arfcommers like a good deal as much as the next guy.  My local friends wouldn't probably know much either.  This really is kind of an exclusive club.  The club for people that spend too much money on things that do exactly the same things as the cheaper things.......Most of the time.
