I have been picking up some coins from the local mom and pop store.![]() 1-1976-s Ike 1-1881-s Morgan 1-1968 Kennedy 5 Quarters 1942-1964 1-1943 War nickel 1-1923 Mercury Dime 4-Roosevelt Dimes 1940-1961 I went to http://www.coinflation.com/coins/silver_coin_calculator.html I come up with $68.51 on the calculator. How much would I be able to get for these at a coin store or even Ebay, IF i decide that I would want to sell? I also got a 1935 e silver Certificate $1 bill. circulated and wrinkled. |

eBay, probably get close to spot price or a bit over... at least, that has been my impression.
There is an antique store local to me that sells junk silver at x times face value and buys at x - 4. By example, a while back I picked up a roll of quarters ($10 face value) for $170 (17 * $10 face value), and they would have bought the roll back right there for $130 ( (17 - 4) * $10 face value). I don't know if the "4 times face value" spread is constant or how often they adjust it. -WhyTanFox ETA: As always, YMMV: an acquaintance told me they were trying to sell some junk silver but couldn't find any buyers after trying a couple of jewelery stores, a coin store, a "fast cash for gold" store front, and an antique store. |
| You'll be way better off going to a coin shop. The Morgan would probably get you $20 (or more) and as far as junk, the 4 quarters and one dime will be an oz. so there's another $24 unless any of them are special then they might be worth more. The Ike and JFK are only 40% silver. |

no not selling. Just trying to figure out how much below spot one should expect to get from a coin store( if they buy) and ebay. People are talking about junk silver buying but very little when you try to sell? So please don't take this as i am trying to sell right now. Just curious when selling and how much one would expect to get. |

I think that this is a good start.
silver is taking off, but I don't think that you'll get rich from this acquisition unless you got some rare items. keep stacking..... can't tell what the Morgan is, but it has eye-appeal. IMHO, they are pretty coins (eta) didn't see the list of coins. 1881-S are now quite common w/ the discovery of the Redfield hoard. IIRC, this series has one of the sharpest strikes, and should have better detail than the rest of the Morgans. |

We have a cash register in my department at the car dealership I work at, and I check the register probably twice a week for stuff. I've been actively checking for probably 8 months without a single pre-65 coin. Are they that scarce? These days, yeah. However if you work cash register at a high-volume retail store, you're bound to see some junk silver come through. I found a mercury dime in my change once. Now I habitually look at all of my change

From what I can tell, that Ike dollar would only have silver content if it was minted in San Francisco. Check yours out and also these links:
