My dad was born.....he'll be 85 on Halloween....married to Mom since '49,raised 8 GOOD kids (and I make 9 th) Navy vet of WWII,worked for Cummins Engine Co. for almost 40 years.
How many of you guys will wish him a Happy Birthday????? I'll print it out and mail it to him.....

Your dad's a couple years older than mine. My dad was born in November of 1928. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 (at 17). He missed out on any action in WW2, but was onboard the USS Turner during Operation Crossroads in 1946.

Have a very, very blessed birthday....my great grandad, grandpa, dad and three of his four brothers were Navy men. Our daughter followed suit and is in the Navy on the USS Makin Island...thanks for your service to our country too!!!!...

very glad to meet you,brother!!
Dad took his basic at Norfolk,Va. and then went to Pensacola and worked in the base hospital and was also on an ambulance crew.He hasn't said a lot about it over the years but he has told me about rying to get a pilot out of a plane that overshot the runway and ended up in a swamp.The pilot didn't survive.

P.S. Thanks so much for all the replies...I think dad will be very surprised!!
