A 51 pound tent isn't exactly my idea of a great bug out tent unless your bugging with a sherpa.

For that much you can buy yaks that will walk up the mountain that you can shoot and make a tent out of, saving you precious hiking calories.

Pretty bombproof but it weighs something like 20lbs or 40

The neon orange wouldn't exactly help in keeping on the down low.

The WW I German army helmet thing on top is probably worth at least $3000 alone!

That thing isn't a tent, it's a portable house.

That guy used such shit wheels on that thing it makes my heart bleed. He had tons of problems with his cart. If he googled wheels for 10 minutes he could learn that you could use WAY WAY better wheels for not a ton of money and be almost problem free. Some people can be so uninformed. Badass on the athletics department though

Where the hell are you bugging out to???

You could probably pick up a pretty nice used camper for $5K.

5 grand will buy a lot of preps and a $200 tent will work just as well I would imagine. And all it takes is one fire or some yahoo with a blade and you've got rags.

This.

Or just buy a milsurp wall tent and stove.
Besides, I'm not sharing a tent w/ anyone I'm not currently fucking unless it was a matter of life and death

I don't want to smell anyone's farts or hear them snoring at night

There are better choices...

And if you're bugging out to Baron Snow covered Mountains... you may want it in white...

I prefer OD green since everything here is Green.

Even Back Packing in the Rockies... I'd use OD green and throw a Camo net over it... You could hardly find the thing unless you knew it was there.

Hehe.

I'm gonna stick with my Coleman 4 person tent for our family of 4.  Heavy?  Yup.  Tight squeeze for 4?  Yup.  What we had as an extra and better than a sharp stick in the face?  Yup again.

How much is the Mountain Barbie tent in the back ground?

Wow –– 5 g's.   I just had a couple of quotes to build an 11' x 6' saferoom with 8" thick concrete walls on a new construct i'm building for just a few hundred dollars more   ––-  (apples to oranges comparison though)

I suppose if you're climbing Mt. Everest and any type of tent failure might mean a swift death, $5000 is a pretty cheap price to keep on living.

To state the obvious, most of us are not in that position and as such, epicly vast overkill.

Agreed!

I've even seen some sweet deals on Craigslist for RVs in the $5k range.

A few years back I picked up what I guess was a 21 or 22 foot little RV. it had the chevy van cab with a queen bed over it , small couch , table and 2 swivel chairs. Sink , stove , oven , microwave , toilet , sink and shower. Along with A/C and propane heat it was awesome. I paid 5k for it. Added a cheep little tv and dvd player from target. We used it for 2 seasons almost every weekend at the race track.

A damn flood killed it and I didnt have any kind of coverage to pay for a flood on it. Laura and I had some good times with that little sucker. The ability to sleep comfortable , cool off or warm up. Having a fridge and freezer to keep all the food was mint. Not to mention being able to make a full meal or just a bag of pop corn was great.

After remodeling our home another small RV or even a travel trailer since we have a gas 3/4 ton and a 1 ton diesel. Is very high on our list. The one thing I will give to the travel trailer is having a vehicle to un hook and use. We didnt have this problem at the track as we left the RV there for the season but while vacationing it was a pita.

ETA : didnt mean to hijack the thread

Damn thats a lot of food and such right there...  I thought my MSR tent was expensive!  Solar panels are pretty pimp though

that tent is way too expensive..    not many places to bug out to if you are using that type of tent..

you could damn near dig a bug out hole for that much..

I have a NF m25 that is 3.5 seasons and it is not a suitable bug out tent..
