I see lots of those type trucks around town... Most of them are clad in neon-pink graphics with big assed stickers all over them..

I think it would be pretty cool in a more subtle time but I can't get past the lack of ground clearance for how big it is., That, and it weighs a god awful amount.  It is so wide and long it would never make it up any jeep trails without serious body damage.

but it could drive the shit out of some roads

I guess that we were 6500+ pounds rolling here and I would not be surprised if the scales indicated closed to 7k

You do understand that the Jeep trails are thousands of miles away from me.  To get to the Jeep trail I have to haul 6 people for days.

There's one of these sitting across town for sale.  I've been tempted to stop and have a look, but I'm not really in the market.  It looks like  A LOT of truck from a distance.

I could have gone all day without hearing of one for sale.....

They are a class 4 or class 5 truck.  One ton is class 3.

:scratching head:

I assume that means you need a Class B or Class A to drive it?  Why are you bothered about hearing of one for sale?  Curious.

He's talking about the weight rating classes for trucks and no you don't need a commercial license to drive one but some states, like CA, do have a non-commercial CDL you can obtain.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_classification

Also the Topkick/Kodiak series trucks were never meant for off-road use, hence the minimal ground clearance. They are available in 4 wheel drive but it's for snow and off-road commercial applications rather than recreational 4 wheeling. They fill that gap between 1 ton pickemup trucks and Class 7 and 8 trucks. And I'm pretty sure GM no longer makes them.

Nyet.  In most states class C applies to vehicles with a GVWR under 26,000 pounds.  That particular model (4500) probably maxes out at 17,500 pounds.

Cool factor, yes, but other than short man syndrome, or small penis syndrome, why would anyone want a truck so outrageously big, and what if any, significant value would it have as a BOV?

me likey...could use a repaint, but would only change the lime green to red or something. ultimate urban stealth is looking like emergency or utility company. will get you past most road blocks and barricades without a second glance...
