| Sorry, not totally survival related, but this is usually where I roam around. Does anyone know of a web site where you can "draw" in a route you hiked (trails, not roads) and get the mileage or your trip?? |

Have you looked at trails.com? I went on a hike a few years ago and tried their site. IIRC, there are maps on that site with common hiking trails and I was able to put in the route and it gave me mileage and elevation changes. Do you have a GPS? Some have that function with the maps and software that come with them.

| Ok, I messed around in Google Earth and you can add "paths" and all sort of stuff, it will then tell you elevation, distance etc.... I must add though that the free version of Google Earth is not a very intuitive program. I bet the pay version is much nicer, but anyway you can do what I was asking about. Thanx, Ed |
