How do you store your communications equipment when not in use? I have tried to make sure mine run on rechargeable batteeries and regular ones. I know not to keep the rechargable in the charger forever but I don't use them enough to keep them all out either. What to do?

hello,, about comm gear, I realy dont' store it. it's used every few days. that includes my HT.

My mobile radio is used every day.My wife is on board w/comms and has her ham lic. and we use local repeaters and simplex freq's just about every day.

I charge my HT about every 10 days. My HT isn't used as much as I should use it. I have commercial radios that have local repeaters/simplex freq's installed.

I do have a couple battery powered blister pack /\/\ equipment. those I leave the batteries out unless I'm using them. I rotate those batteries about every month. when I need batteries for other things, I use the stored ones, then next trip to town, replace those.. there is 2 packs stored, when i get down to one pack, buy another pack.. 2 is 1 and one is none...

all of my elect gear is kept in the house, dry, warm, safe.  I don't forsee needing a FRS radio in an emergency situation. I do see needing these little radios as hand outs to the group for local comms.

All I have now for serious comms is a HT. I have a pelican case that fits the radio, antennae, and charging devices inside. With that said I keep the HT out as I use it frequently.

OP,
It seems that you are asking about the batteries? If so, I keep mine in a solar charger / maintainer to keep a nice even charge.  Look into Eneloop batteries, probably the best AA rechargeables for electronics. They maintain a charge a very long time.
