Just finished rotating 80gals of gas from a year ago. I added a double dose of Stabile to it and I had no problems with the gas altough I've read here and been told that Stabile is crap and todays gas doesn't store after 3 months.
Did I just get lucky? |

What type of containers did you store the gas in?
I've been stocking some of the E10 stuff (real gas isn't available locally) in the USGI Blitz 20L cans which are internally vented. They seem to build up a good pressure and from what I read, that pressure should lengthen the life of the gas. |
| We rotate a one year old 5 gal container each month that has 2 oz of Stabil and 4 oz of Gum-Out. I've not had an issue yet. The last several months I've put the 5 gals into an empty tank. We buy the 87octane discount gas with ethanol. That's what we burn anyway. I've had this same mixture in the generator since April of last year. Apparently, it runs 11 hours on 4 gals of gas. I ran it for an hour on Sunday morning at 12 deg F. It started sluggishly after 3 pulls. The gas gauge is showing darn near empty. Now that I'm thinking about it: I'll get some fresh gas, treat it and top it off tomorrow. We run it monthly for 30 to 45 min's under a load. |

Pri-G is a very popular product that advocates swear can work miracles. Thanks for the info. I bought my PRI from Ready Made Resources Fuel Storage Section They have free (and fast) shipping and always throw in some cool catalogs! They also had the best price especially when you factor in shipping costs from some other sites. Grove |

Why buy the expensive gas cans and addatives and not just rotate the gas more often? I know a guy that does this. He needed to be sure that he had gas to get to work even if there were a short interruption is supply, like a hurricane. He got some jerry cans and uses them to save one trip to the gas station per week by being able to go just once a week, unlike when he had to 2x a week before. |
