What is the story on these.  I have searched all over the net about these things, but haven't found alot of feedback.  Does anyone own one of these?? I have a Craftsman for the last 10 years and it serves me well.  I have a chance to pick on up new  Champion (3500watts enough for me) for under $200 and am seriously thinking about jumping on it.  I could spend double and get a Briggs & Stratton but want to hear about the champions first.  Let me say I don't need or want a $900 Honda that throws 2000watts.  I don't drink the Koolaid.

i have one and bought it due to someone posting a deal from this site along time ago...i paid 175 after taxes...its the 3500 it works really well considering what it cost...i use mine and so do my friends when we go to the drag strip we hook up the enclosed trailer to it so we have lights and can use more than one outlet...its not a honda for sure and i have one of them also but its bigger and not as easy to transport...i just recommend plugging it in to something once a month if you use it or not...i have a buddy that fixes and installs large large large generators and he told me to always plug like a hair dryer into mine atleast once a month and to change the oil every couple months which i do and i havent had any problems with any of my gens...

"Plug like a hair dryer"
What was your friend  talking about?

I think he means to take a hair dryer and plug it into the generator and turn the hair dryer on.

So it will cause the generator to create power and keep corrosion from building up in the generator head.

I use a 1000 watt light when running mine every month or two.

They have a growing following among the R.V. crowd.
Champion generators are made in China, but the company is U.S. owned.
The engine is a copy of the Honda GX-200.
They have a very good reputation for customer support.
The vast majority of reviews I've read were positive.

I let my parents use mine when they lost power for three days last year.
They had no problems.
When the outage was over, I just let them keep it, and bought my self another.
We put about forty hours on that one during a recent outage.
We had no problems.

Over at www.rv.net, there is an 800 page (I shit you not) thread under the "Tech issues" section.
The thread title is "3000 watt chinese generator info", or something like that.

ETA:  $200.00 is an awesome deal for a new one.
They have a one year warranty.

I own the champion 4K, and bought it because of the reviews on the RV.net site.  I test run it once a month under load from two garage refrigerators (18 & 22 Ft Gladiator brand from Lowes) or a hairdryer (1500 w) and a small 1.5 ft dorm fridge for 20 to 30 mins. The model I bought has the 30 amp RV receptacle + 1 110 v + 220 twist lock.
