I have been using bottled 5 gal spring water. When I changed the last jug I noticed it had some stuff around the pour hole where it sits in the crock. This stuff looked like moldy rubber cement and had been sitting in my water and was half coming loose.

I was thinking of buying a water filter and filtering my city tap water. Can home table top filter systems give me water as good as spring water from tap water?

What is a good filter to get? Or should I just switch brands of spring water suppliers?

Oh, and check this story about drinking sewage water.

Dab a Q-Tip in Clorox, and touch it to the black area.  If the color goes away in a few minutes, it is mold.

A tabletop reverse osmosis system will give you water as pure or more pure than "spring water" depending upon their source.

For an example Dasani water is literally tap water that has been filtered through reverse osmosis.
