I did a short review on a friends 1962 Unimog Camper a couple of weeks ago... Now I found another guy I know that has a 1972 Pinzgauer 710? I hadn't realized how common these surplus trucks were? I posted my thoughts on this guys Pinzgauer and some photos as well, if you're interested? I know some of you have UNI's but does anybody here own a Pinz?

| A guy I know here in town owned one. He said it would go anywhere he wanted to for sure. He did mention though that it was noisy, and very cold in the winter. He also mentioned the parts issue. They can be had, but they're not cheap. He sold it to a guy from AZ and bought a used long bed pick up. |

I have been doing my best to resist the purchase of a Pinz.
My wife drove one out in Napa and she's even on board. The problem, I'm a VW guy and don't want to learn a new system. I've been looking for a nice VW single cab. However, if a nice Pinz fell in my lap... |
| The cylinders look exactly like VW flat four engine. It is inline but horizontal like the VW also. I swear the lead designer was from either Porsche or VW. central tunnel with drive train sealed, sealed swing axles, exhaust heat exchange system, it goes on and on. |
| WOW!! so much misinformation in so few post. The web is full of information about the Pinzgauer line of trucks. I have the 4x soft top (710M) version and the 6x soft top (712M) version. They are great trucks for what they are. Yes they are noisy as is any military vehicle. Yes as a matter of fact Autozone does carry a large number of parts for the Pinzgauer although you have to be able to cross reference them to something the counter people will know and a VW shop would have even more. Look them up they are very interesting trucks. |
