could they be exagerating the capabilities of this unit just a little??

Couldn't even finish the video it was so cheesy. At least not until I saw the half naked girl dancing in the sun set. (Ok, well she was half naked in my day dream :)
Sorry to link to another forum, but if you truely want info about solar power, go to a Solar Power Forum |

Just good old fleecing of the ignorant by playing on their fears. I liked the pics of the JBTs towards the bottom. Really though, it's only overpriced by about 200%... I dont know, 1500 sounds about right. Checked out the price of a 100w panel? Why, yes I have. I just added 410 watts to my array and spent a half day finding the best prices I could, like I do about every six months or so. What's laughable about that setup is not the extremely high mark-up, that I don't have quite as much of an issue with, it's the "play on their fear" in such an insultingly obvious manner sales tactic. C'mon guy, at leat be subtle about it like Madison Avenue. |

I have a very minimal set up 100W panel/inverter/charge controller pushing 24V with 4 6V batteries. I do want to expand. |

It kinda figures they use the fear factor to sell...i did get the link through the Alex Jones website..and for God's sake dont ask how i ended up there

Perhaps I am wrong, but this does not make sense to me:
I am supposed to believe that the 90watt solar panel can fully charge the system in a couple of hours (on the frequently asked questions page), but the specs say the 120VAC charger takes 15hrs (on the details and specifications page.)

The run time on that system is very short.
12 VOLT DC - Internal battery type : Sealed lead acid, AGM Internal battery capacity: 51 amp-hours Internal battery voltage : 12 VDC (nominal) Since you never want to discharge a battery more than 50% - that's 25 AmpHours That's only 2.5 Amps for an hour at 120VAC, neglecting inverter losses That's 300W for one hour. At 1800W it's ~8 minutes. Tht's why it can use a 90W panel 90W at 12V = 7.5A Most regions of the country have ~4 hours peak sun exposure per day. 4* 7.5A = 30Amps per day recharge capability. The 120V recharge is likely a simple 2A trickle charger. That kind of charger doesn't properly condition the battery, leading to significant reduction in battery life. |
