Been doing a bit of research and had decided that Aerobic07 was the thing to use for long term storage of H2O.  The average cost is around $20.00 for a 2.33oz bottle.  Read and searched some more and ran across Aerobic K07.  Bout $5.00 cheaper but nothing is mentioned for long term storage, just for daily health additive.  Mfgr says the only diff is that 07 is sodium based and K07 is potassium based.  What the hell?

Q:  Are they both used for long term storage?

Q:  Has anyone used K07 for long term storage?

Q:  Has anyone used both, and if so, what is recommended?

Viking,

I read their website, and it appears to be marketed for its  health benefits, instead of a long-term water storage buffer. I'm afraid I can't answer your questions, as I've never heard of it. Is the idea that it is supposed to work like an ozonator to disinfect water?

Yep.  10-20 drops per glass of water is the claim for daily health.  6 drops / gallon of water for storage.  Claim is GTG for 7 years.  1 person claimed to have stored for a year, tasted and GTG so he sealed it back up and will wait another year and see.

Does Bleach leave an aftertaste?  What is the longest time you have stored w/bleach?

Fortune,  Yes the claim is 07 hyperoxygenates to the point of nothing being able to survive.

I store 5 gallon jugs and rotate them about every 6 months.
At this point I have enough that I am always in a state of rotation.
We just empty them into a 2 1/2 gallon serving container that stays in the kitchen....we always have fresh spring water

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but, what bleach do you prefer - taking inconsideration after-taste, odor, etc.?

I live in an area where I Really don't think water storage is an issue,so I don't. But the question is a good one.
I've heard of using Aerobic 07 for long term water storage, in fact, Nitro-Pak sells it for the purpose. http://www.nitro-pak.com/product_info.php?cPath=40_72&products_id=406
Sure bleach works, but maybe not so much for long-term; and it has drawbacks.
Does no one here use Aerobic 07 or the potassium version?
Surely someone has knowlege or experience with this stuff.

I do not use Aerobic 07 nor bleach for my stored water.  I've stored water in food grade drums up to three years without any issue as long as proper initial cleaning, filling, and storing are observed.

The cheapest I can find.  Make sure that sodium hypochlorite is the only active ingredient and you're GTG.
