Okay,
so I am packing some food.

For a 5 gal bucked of rice or wheat the commonly agreed upon amount is 2k right?

Do you not have to put O2 absorbers in plain white sugar?  Should I put some dessicants in there instead?

What is recommended amount for 9lbs of oatmeal I got a costo?

Yes, 1500 to 2000 cc of O2 is what most use in a 5 gal for grains like rice, beans, and wheat.  Don't forget the mylar.  As for O2 and dessicant for sugar (and salt) I think most would say nothing is necessary but just seal them well.  For your oatmeal it depends more on the volume not the weight.  I'm not sure how much that is for 9 lbs but since oatmeal is light I'm guessing a lot more air per volume of container.  That equates to more O2 absorbers.  How much more? Not sure.

2,000 CC is ideal, 1,500 at a minimum for a 5 or 6 gallon bucket.  9lbs. of oatmeal- you'd probably want to use 1,000 CC, that's probably a tad bit high but so what.

Sugar you can or you can't, that's up to you. If their is any humidity in the air your salt and sugar are going to be hard whether or not you use absorbers.

Good luck.

thanks guys.  I never knew about those sites.

The 9lb oatmeal fill up about a third of a 5 gal bucket.  I have 1000 & 1500 size, so I'll just throw a 1k in there.

That sugar,  I can't quite get 50lb in a bucket.  I'll throw some dessicants in there.  Lord knows i have enough of those.
