So...what belongs in a good blow out/first aid kit that goes with a BOB? |
|
The most imprtant thing is skill. Get trained.
Throw in Combat Gauze and a nasopharyngeal airway. If you know how to use one, a needle to decompress a tension pneumothorax. In Iraq, the first time we needed to treat someone, we could have done a dozen traumatic amputations and sucking chest wounds. No one had what we needed- a fricking bandaid. Think about the little things, too. Add some antibiotic ointment. |

Got izzys, tourney's and chest seals...what else? Decompression Needle is good to have for a tension pneumothorax. You should be trained on how it is used though if you want to be able to use it effectively. There is a video on the page linked below that shows how it is used, but formal training would of course be better.

| Noooooooooo, I'm not Army. Several years ago, my unit put stuff together focusing on trauma and issued them out to individuals in sealed packs, kind of like they used one of those heat sealers for food storage. Pretty good idea, since it made it easy to store, transport and pass out, but they didn't think about boo-boos. |
