I just called MIDWAY USA, they actually have a particular ammo that I like to shoot in stock. But they only allow 1 box per customer to order. what a load of shit. Geez.

I called Winchester today about some ammo, they said they shipped 14 million rounds of .22lr year to date and they are 12 million rounds Back ordered. Nice.

Get it while you can. Gun prices are coming down, but availability of ammo is still scarce.

Just talked to my Dad down in Tampa and he also stated Florida has shit for ammo right now.  I just picked him up a couple hundred rounds of cor-bon 380 for him and some 25-06.  From what I am told, you can't find 380 down there.  Its been that way since November.  It was hard to fiond here for awhile, but now most of the shelves are full.  I usually hit up a few rural tractor supply stores from time to time.  They always have a great assortment.

I had an interesting experience during vacation. Went to St. Louis hit 3 Walmarts and it was slim pickings. The employee said if they do manage to get anything, you had to be there at 7am, stand in line. Got word one store was getting some 9mm so got there at 7am and was able to score a few boxes. Hit OK City, zip. Hit stores in NM and almost zip, one store had a butt load of 9mm, but zero just about everything else (including 22lr). Hit stores in CO and they were pretty sad. Hit stores in NE and not much there either. Situation in IA is pretty sad.

Picked up 6 of the 100 ct 40 cal one day, then went back through and picke dup 6 of the 100 ct 45 the next.  Lady said I was just down right lucky.

I'll take it.

it's better to be lucky than it is to be smart.

NV is slowly getting some, NM not so much from what I have seen.

A few years ago, when Fed bulk packs were $9.97 each, I got the wife into the habit of picking up a couple for me each week. It added up in a hurry. We have slacked off due to economic concerns, and now availability.

I expect that as folks begin to feel a pinch in their wallets, they will decide that they have 'enough' and you will see it on the shelves once again. Getting that first case to last until the next shipment comes in will be the bellwether.

Thats why I just purchased an air rifle.  I can get pellets pretty easy compared to ammo which has been scarce here too.  While not the same as a firearm i'm hoping it will help curb my need to go shooting and save the last few boxes of ammo that weren't lost in that boating accident...

You may want to try Georgia Arms.  I stopped by there last onth and they seemed to have alot of .223.  They were out of 30-06.

Yes it is, the long story short version is "stock up when you can"

wally worlds around here are starting to keep ammo in stock in some of the calibers.  i've replenished my 9 and .40 to pre-obama levels.  still low on my .38 though.  thought about buying some .223, even though i don't have a gun that'll shoot it, just b/c it was there.

I made the mistake of getting a new caliber a few months ago, and my ADD didn't allow me to wait to stock up on ammo. Had to pay a pretty penny to get my stock of .308 up to what I'm comfortable with.

Oh man, 308......love the caliber but would hate to have to stock up now.

Feels like ammo is getting harder to obtain.

People must have stopped buying guns and now they are working on ammo.

This is very appropiate for the SF forums for many reasons. We need to stock up when we can and I am DIE-TRYIN, 'Nuff said

Ammo around here seems to be getting easier to find for the last month or so.  Wally World seems to at least have something everytime I go in now and last week the gun store ammo shelfs were as full as I have seen them in months.  There has also been a decent selection of black rifles the last month or two and the prices, while still high, are starting to come down a little.

For me availability is only a concern with reloading components. I want to start loading .30-06 and .223 but primers and .223 dies are a tough find at a reasonable price. I am looking into cast lead for .30 cal and 7.5 swiss.

Walmart just hiked .22lr prices to about what I pay in a local gun store with 10% mil discount. I am not sure if pistol ammunition went up as well. In any case, they just took away the only reason I ever had to go in there...

Solve your ammo problems by following one simple lesson.

Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

i was there yesterday.  federal 9mm  was 8.97 and .40 was 12.47/box of 50.  iirc, remington .22 in the 550 box was 14ish.

They would have to keep the Rem bulk low to sell it

My walmarts never seem to stock it. They do stock CCI and Federal, both of which went up. Federal 750 (Red Box bulk) went from $13.47 to $15.47. When I started buying it in large quantities two years ago, it was $9.88.

The Walmarts around here had some Federal bulk pack .22 and 9mm this weekend, but it's still been pretty much hit or miss.
I didn't see any .223, .40, or .45.

There's been some bitching that Federal .22 bulk pack is $15.47, but it's cheaper than anything else that I have been buying.

I was in a Wally World Saturday.

The ammo case was 1/2 full of every conceivable hunting caliber, 12 guage, and pricey 22lr.

The other 1/2 was Fed 9mm fmj.  About 150 boxes.  Not 1 other handgun caliber.

What exactly is hard to get? I'm over there in 2 months and was thinking of grabbing the 5 kilos the airline will let me carry just because it's a fair bit cheaper over there than here. Is it just .223, .308 and pistol calibres that are getting cleared out? I'll probably just load up on .30-06, perhaps some .30-30, but if it's not on the shelves I won't bother with the paperwork.

Better call ahead to some places and have them hold your stuff, otherwise dont bother .30-30 will be scarce anyways.

Still can't get decent prices on 30-06, .223 or .45acp here in mid-Wisconsin, if you can even find it stocked.  I simply will not pay >80/>40/>40 cents a round respectively.  I stocked up at <70/<30/<30 cents a round respectively,

but those days are long gone.  For the most part, shelves are still pretty bare for anything half-assed common, and we may get lucky with still overpriced rounds if you must buy.  Unfortunately, this means I just don't get as much trigger time as I used to...

I score nicely at Wally World on any caliber I need. I go to the local funshop and they have decent prices on the .223 I need. Wally World for the 550 .22 bulk packs also. I have a few 10k of those now.

I just pick them up even if I don't really need them. They had 6 boxes of .45 Bulk packs this morning and I only bought 2. I didn't even need those. I have 1000 or better of all handgun ammo. 5000+ .223 and 10k+ on .22. How much do I need?

I have one loaded magazine of 9mm and a few loose rounds rolling around the bottom of a box somewhere.  I've pretty much given up on it for now.

I do have plenty of .223, .22, and .12ga, though, so I'm not particularly worried.
