Well, I've got about $50 extra to spend this month, and was wanting to get some more stuff for my BOB - a Medium ALICE pack (no frame).
What sort of things have you guys found at Wallyworld, Academy, or any other big box stores that make you wonder how you lived without it. Want to have all of my bases covered for this year's hurricane season!! DAVE |
| hurricane season, huh? coastal state? how about one of those little fans that sprays water? (priceless when it's hot and humid) extra batteries? water purification or a 5 gallon jug or two of water? bug net to keep the mosquitos off of you? ax/chainsaw? flashlights/lanterns? |
|
Yep, I'm your neighbor, Louisiana We've got plenty of stuff for the "home" that you mentioned - generators, chainsaws/axe, some flashlights, lots of lanterns, and something that can fill most other voids. What I was really looking for was something small, useful, and easily packed into a BOB. Was going to toss in a small medicine bottle of "Pool Shock" for a cheap water purifier. |

Wally has two part water purification tabs. Used the one part ones in the scouts, tasted like iodine. But the two part ones are not supposed to taste like that, I got some for $5 IIRC. |

Are you set up with a battery, solar or hand-crank radio receiver?
How about 'specialty' ammo for your handgun, like snake shot? I hear some of the LA snakes are downright unneighborly when they think they've been provoked. sunscreen? GOOD hat? I recently posted about how my bald head is being treated for pre––cancerous lesions... I look like some mischievous 4-year-old attacked my head with an orange marker pen. |
