just heard about the remake of Red Dawn , should be out Sept 24th, 2010. Just heard about it on Hannity- hopefully its true |

They will kill it. Ben Affleck or ,some other jackass, will be running around racking a shotgun trying to defend the town from the racist, religious, right wing extremists. ETA: I just read part of the plot on another site. Maybe the movie has a shot. I doubt it though. |
| Maybe this time there will be a weakened left wing government in the US, and it has gone after our guns. True patriots have squirrelled away guns, ammo, and supplies, and we rise up to fight the Red Chinese invaders when our government and the weakened shell of a military have waved the white flag. It would be epic, and maybe a wake-up call for some who think the Kenyan's policies are going to make the country safer and better. |

What? Hollywood and another remake? How can that be? I thought the WRITER'S went on strike a while back because they were not getting their fair cut in the $$$. I am sure as talented as the WRITERS are, the WRITERS would not do a remake of something, or turn a cartoon into a movie. WRITERS would surely WRITE something new. It must be an all new movie and we are confused.

We talked about this before, back in March 2008. (and again in July 2008, etc) http://archive.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=10&f=20&t=609590 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=10&f=20&t=613536 I stand by what I said before: They might remake it.
But knowing today's Hollywood, to make the script more "relevant", the Wolverines will be racially diverse and have a strong female leader who just happens to have been this years prom queen, head cheerleader, soccer team captain, and recipient of a Westinghouse scholarship. They will also include at least 1 flamboyantly gay character who is an expert gymnast and 4th don black belt. He dies because the invaders cut off his AIDS medications... but at the funeral all the male Wolverines will reveal their "relations" with him. The cast will continually spew propaganda about how it was all the USA's fault in the first place that we got invaded, how we destroyed the environment and caused global warming, that corporations are greedy and bad, and about the evils of gun ownership by those who are not in the military. Expect at least 5 Bush is stupid/wrong/lies jokes and/or comments. I can hardly wait. Doesn't Hollywood have any bad TV series left to copy? |

Being a movie nut, I always wanted to see a rewritten remake of it. Something that wouldn't insult a classic the way so many do. I'm still pissed about The Day the Earth Stood Still, what a let down.
I'd like to see it done Band of Brothers style....A well made 10 hour miniseries. Or maybe like Lord of the Rings...... a high budget Hollywood epic. I'll give it a chance, but not get my hopes up. |
|
They'll murder it badly.
Left-wing Communists in Hollywood just can't make this movie. They couldn't even if they tried make a right-wing movie. They seriously lack the ability to do so. I throw down this challenge to Hollywood "do your best to make a Red Dawn that remains true the pro-Second pro-USA message of the first one" just to see if you can do it. I don't think they've got it in them honestly. It would be like blind people trying to drive. |
| As good as the original was, Red Dawn is a good candidate for a re-make with an updated premise. It has the potential of being an epic movie but, frankly, I just don't trust Hollywood to do it justice. It could happen, but I have serious doubts. Hope I'm wrong. |

Hollywood HATES this movie, they have been trying to kill this movie off for years and it has become quite popular on cable/disk/directTV. I suspect they will try to make a PC version of it to try to replace the original version.
Note the writer/director (who has just about been black listed by hollywood) is a hard core gun type (John M????); I can recommend any of his movies including the wind and the lion (just the see the Cold potato digger machine gun !). |

So with the red menace gone more or less who will invade us this time? Will it be the airborne division of Alqueida? Will it be right wing extremists? Will the South rise again and invade the north? Will Montana Texas and a few other states attempt to break up the union only to be invaded?
I don't know but they won't make it the right way. Look at Sum of All Fears, they were too afraid to make the bad guys be from the middleast. |

China has the industrial and population capacity to mount an equivalent military mobilization that would ECLIPSE what we were able to accomplish from 1941 to 1944.... when we quintupled the size of our Navy, air forces, and army.
We went from the 4th largest Navy to the overwhelmingly biggest in 3 years. We built planes, ships, and tanks FASTER THAN THE AXIS POWERS COULD SINK, SHOOT DOWN, OR BLOW UP.... thus proving that quantity has a quality all its own... The Yamato was better than most of our battleships....the Tiger tank was much better than our Shermans, and the German U-boats were better than ours....but we overwhelmed them with numbers. I think they totally have the capacity to ramp up similarly today.... how technologically tough would it be for them to replicate WW2 era LSTs? Do we even have enough torpedoes afloat right now to sink all the ships they could throw our direction? |
|
That's an easy one.
There will be lot's of "From my dead hands" and even more collateral damage plus retribution killings. The message will be quite clear, better to surrender than fight. Tj Edit: BTW, The "Who is the invader" is up for grabs. Pretty easy to fill in that blank and it won't be Islamic Terrorist or good Socialist Communists. |

i found this quote whille googeling info about the remake...
Emptying today’s “post-9/11″ quota is screenwriter Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia, Y: The Last Man adaptation) who will pen the remake of 1984’s Red Dawn, the beloved Russian invasion teen patriot movie that inspired Toy Soldiers and many a neighborhood ground warz. Ellsworth described his take to the Hollywood Reporter…
“The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we’re in,” says Ellsworth, who was 11 when the original was released. “As ‘Red Dawn’ scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?” K. |

It's going to so PC, we wouldn't want to offend anyone now would we? |

I looked but I did not see where anyone posted this review. If it is a dupe, sorry...if not it gives a okay explanation about the upcoming movie. Watch the video review.

In a holding pattern, I'll wait till the rental comes out... Is Clint Eastwood the only Hollywood guy that makes original movies anymore.... Seems like everyone else is just a cover band these days.... "Gran Torino" was awesome. Did he pick on Chinese. Them poor bastards have been getting the shaft since they died by the thousands building the railroads. I want to see a real American Movie, pointing out who our real enemies are, Islamo faggots. |

Review Interesting but the guy's personal comments have no ground, there is no way North Korea has the will or material to invade the USA on a "Red Dawn" scale... |
