This thing lists in near real time the Swine flu. |

Here's the CDC's Swine Flu page.
http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/key_facts.htm The Office of Personnel Management just came out with an initial policy statement for the DoD government employees. Nothing too exciting. |

I've got this running in Google Earth right now. I'm 530 miles away from the nearest outbreak of A-H1N1. I've got time. In the modern world, how long would it take a hundred infected people to cover 530 miles? Two hours? You have far less time than you think. |

The map sucks.
They have markers listed all over Queens and Nassau County NY all citing the same incident But that many markers gives it the appearance of more cases than there really are. Anyone can put a marker up which makes this about as reliable as the National Enquirer. |

Not to mention the center america has no cases on the west coast, the left america has no cases, and the right america has cases on the west coast.
Paul- we use this time tracking program at work. I have all of these "plan for" and "prepare for" tasks (hurricane, volcano, various man made events). Basically everyone who does disaster response see them all. I get an email everytime a new task is added. When a hurricane nears landfall, they will add a specific task such as "Respond to Hurricane Ivan" or "Respond to Alaska Volcano Activity". This lets someone figure out what the Hurricane cost us vs what was spent on being prepaired, which is some we are expected to do anyway. This is real important to the bean counters, so much so that they will have a software guy add the new task in the middle of the night if need be. So anyway, I'm in a hotel reading my email, and I get a new message - I have a new task "respond to pandemic influenza." I called our comm center, and spent about 10 minutes on google , before deciding this was not based on any specific activity. Turns out the comm center got calls all night about it. And to this day, I don't have a clue what my role would be in such an event anyway. |

So, the CDC webpage is talking about swine flu being passed from pigs to humans. The news keeps saying that it isn't transmitted from pigs to humans. What's the truth here? I'm friggin' confused..... ![]() The original strain went from pig to human, it very rarely happens but it does happen, usually sputters out after infecting a couple of people. This current strain seems to have taken to people and is regularly being transmitted from person to person. |

Wow - you folks want the poor guy updating this thing to not sleep and you want those sick to be implanted with a GPS tracker! ![]() If google's gonna somebody chooses to put up a map, then we expect it to it should be accurate. If they're NOT going to do it RIGHT, then they shouldn't do it in the first place. And I suspect there's more than ONE GUY updating the map. There COULD even be TWO guys, a day shift and a night shift. I'm just sayin'. |

Here is the page that is current.

There are MANY cases that are not being reported……….. I got the flu last week. I usually don't go to the doctor for the flu, but decided in this case, it might be best if they need to track the spread. I called my doctor's office. They said that they were too busy to see me. If I really felt bad to go to the emergency room. I said phuck it. If they don't, I don't care. I stayed home & watched 4 seasons of The Shield on DVD. Don't know if I had the swine flu, but defininely had sometime of flu. Took 6 days for it to clear up. |
