Ok. I have food and water, power, lights.......anyway I have alot of basics and continue to work at it.  My question is, I have an AR and let's say one SKS.  I am thinking about getting a saiga 7.62 rifle.  I would like to have another semi-auto that takes mags.  I have alot of 7.62 ammo.    I really don't want a AK persay.  I don't mind the price of mags and this rifle would be scoped. What is your opinion?  I will try to train my wife with the AR a little and this may be my back up.

Sounds like you have basic defense/big game covered.  Might be time to think about a .22lr for small game for the pot.

Don't the Saigas have to be modified to use standard AK mags?  Or the mags have to be modified.  That is something to look into and consider.

+1.

Anyone who is at all serious about survival should have at least one .22 LR.

I have two .22 rifles and one pistol.  I also have revolvers and semi-auto pistols with 4 mags each.  I have shot guns and a couple of rifles as well.

what about a good .177 air rifle? Seriously, it should be just as good for small game as the .22

while an air rifle is ok, .22lr is much more cabaple, and a brick of .22lr is still very cheap...
