Anyone know of a decent gps for keeping track of miles traveled ( walked ) , and speed? My wife would like one for training. Nothing to bulky though. TIA

Your truck ;p sorry. I used my trip meter in teh truck to find out what the loop walks were here to see how far i was running etc.
Thought of using my garmin but the idea of it bounceing around makes me leave it at home.
I am sure you could get one of the wrist mounted GPS units  by garmin /magellean

I don't own one but the wrist mounted Garmin Foretrex 101 seems be a good fit for your needs.

This ARFcomer suggested it in the "Deployed" forum

I have a Foretrex 101 for this reason.  It has issues with cloudy days, like any other GPS unit, but it does a nice job at what it was designed for.  I used it to track a few routes around my neighborhood and then stopped carrying it.  If that's all she's going to do with it, consider borrowing a friend's.

It has navigated my drunk ass out of the woods in the dark a couple of times however- and for that, it was invaluable.

Well we like to hike also so I would be nice to know how much ground we covered.

I have a Garmin eTrexH. It's great for simple things like getting your coordinates and tracking your movement and storing points to get to or back to. It does not have a color screen and cannot load maps but it only costs $80 - $95. I keep one in my GHB/BOB and I use it when I go on long bike rides to keep track of how far I have rode. It's a great little simple unit for the price.
