I was looking in another thread here and didn't want to crap in it.

I am looking at a small portable 1200w gen from northern tool. Model TG 1200, 2 stroke, 1 gal tank, est run time 4.5hrs@ 1/2 load.
Does anyone have any experience with this gen, or used a 2 stroke gen before?
It will be used to supply power to my camper and as an emergency portable power supply. Any feedback will be appriciated. Thank You.

I know nothing about that generator, but I don't think a 2 stroke engine is want you want. A four stroke will serve you much better. Two stroke requires pre-mixed fuel or may have a built in oil injector that will require 2 stroke oil to be filled.

i don't personally have experience w/ them, but from reading previous threads, the consensus seemed to be to go for the four strokes for quietness and ease of use.

For survival purposes (bug out, etc.) two stroke motors are way too noisy.

Yet another vote for a 4-stroke.

Unlike weedwhackers and leaf blowers, generators are typically run for hours or days at a time - sometimes, for weeks at a time. You can't expect a 2-stroke to last very long in that kind of service. Most 2-strokes rely on oil mixed with the gasoline as their sole source of lubrication - which isn't exactly a recipe for long-term durability.

I don't care what generator you look at, just DO NOT CHOOSE A 2 FUCKEN STROKE

of all the useless ideas, let's see it's loud, runs at high RPM, burns MORE fuel, needs pre mix oil, and half the engine life of a 4 stroke.

a subaru 2000 watt generator is wisper quiet and about $800 and will last you a lifetime.
