For you guys that plan on bugging out when SHTF. How do you plan on dealing with the kind of cold weather  that so many are experiencing? There is no possible way that most would survive unless you had a shelter that you could heat with a fire. Where would you get wood for a fire unless you have prepositioned it? What would you do if you went to your BO location where firewood was prepositioned only to find all your wood was gone.
Just some thoughts and questions.

There's no threat of subfreezing temperatures in my AO, but i think keeping covered fire wood at your BOL is the best idea. If for whatever reason that's not feasible, there was a great tutorial on making fire cans on this board. I plan on keeping a few in my BOV in case i have to BO during the cold, and can't find good firewood due to swampiness.

I'm fortunate enough that my primary BOL (my buddy's cabin) has a backup propane heater. But it's also located between a few hundred acres of woods and a state gameland

If TSHTF, a LOT of folks would be "heading up to camp". I'm sure there would be a lot of neighborly help as well as money/items being traded during a nasty cold snap as locals rally to deal w/ ALL the hunters/family members at once.

FWIW, I've always been interested in coal as some of the central PA crew burns it all winter.

Cheap enough and doesn't go bad. I've always thought having a few tons of coal dropped at your BOL would be a cool idea.

I was sitting here last night thinking the same thing. Need to hook up with Disco-Jon and see if we could have it at his place.

I was thinking about the coal as well but down here it is impossible to find. Hope you guys in snow country are all getting along well.

Yeah that stinks. I went to the Savannah show last weekend and it was pretty crappy. We will for sure hit the woods soon.

my Bug out location when SHTF is accompanied by 400 acres of owned land and 1000+ of State Land..... it gets cold in upstate.... Generator (Natural Gas & Propane - Large Tanks for as needed - occasional showers, etc), Portable Heaters (propane),  Also have Wood stove for heat & cooking, lots of wood stored up, and plenty more to be cut, if all else fails.... Papers, magazines, books, things that will burn made of wood, plywood, etc......
