I got the word today, the comapny I have worked for for the last 5 years closed their doors today.  Not so much of a shock as I have been seeing this coming for awhile.  I was expecting to get a few more months out of it and have more $ put back.  Anyway  my wife and I will be starting a new life and lifestyle this year.  We are moving to Texas and will be living out in the boondocks.  I  am moving into an old house my dad owns for awhile and then we will be building our own house and micro farm.  I will document all of it here.  So I should have quite a few pic post this year.

Good luck to you!

If it makes you feel any better, I've lived in seven different states.  When I moved to TX, I didn't know a soul, have a job, or have to place to stay even.  Lived there quite a few years too.

Life is like the weather and the only thing guaranteed while you are breathing is it will change.  If I have learned one thing, how it changes has as much to do with your attitude and determination as anything else.

Losing our job could happen to any of us in these economic times.  You have the guts to do something different and take a chance.  Good luck, post updates.

Sorry to hear about your job, but it sounds like you have a plan, which means you are ahead of about 95% of people who have gotten laid off. Are you going to collect for unemployment at all? That could be some useful capital in starting your venture in Texas. Good luck to you, and I can't wait to see the pictures!

Sorry to hear about the loss, but I commend you for obviously having a plan and seeing it coming.  To know it happened this morning, and you are stating your intentions tonight tells me you were ready.

My wife's firm laid off 11 this morning and cut pay on the Board of Directors by 25% and 10% for associates.  This was out of no where with no leading indicators.  It could happen to anyone anytime.

I wish you luck in your new venture.

You kind of have to, no?

You'll need capital to move to that place in the country........get the unemployment benefits while you can.

Best of luck to you.

Sorry about the timing of it all , but look at it as a good kick in the butt to get to another place and start something new.

Might sound weird under the circumstances but I wish I were doing something similar but as I would be the one closing the doors and breaking bad news to those that work with  me I will go down with the ship if it ever comes to that.

We wish the best for you and your wife .

In Orlando if you need a hand with anything.
