So what does the human body need to survive besides carbohydrates, protein, and vitamins/minerals?
Could someone get away with eating rice and beans, and supplementing with a multivitamin?
Or in a more extreme case, could someone survive on protein powder, empty carbs (like sugar or junkfood, and multivitamins?

Fat.... Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.... plus some essential fat for regulation, nerve impulses, and hormone synthesis.

total intake should be based on

55-60% CHO
around 10-12% Protein
around 30% Fat, with less than 10% of fat being saturated....
