| Ok I was doing some research today about home remedies for sinus infections since I currently have one and get them all the time and I came across one for snorting cayenne pepper. So I started to do a little research about it and the one website was listing all the things cayenne pepper can do and the one listing said it can stop bleeding, even with gun shot wounds. I plan on doing some more research about this as the day goes on but I just wanted to see if any of you guys have ever heard of this, if this really does work, or if it is B.S.????? |

I call BS. I would not want to put any food grade product in a wound, especially one that burns tissue. Direct pressure with a clean dressing until you can get professional help. Dumping pepper in a fresh wound is a recipe for disaster, in my humble opinion (sorry, no pun intended Doc |
Dunno about cayenne pepper......if you try it on someone else, get ready to duck if they aren't comatose.
One thing that will stop bleeding decently well is spider webs. I used that on horses a few times......always seem to be cobwebs within reach in most barns. Takes a fair amount though and I wouldn't try it with humans anyway. I mention it more as a point of curiosity. |

I don't know if it will clear you sinus infection or stop the bleeding, but it will hurt like hell and probably stop you of thinking about your issues. That is after you gain consciousness from passing out. You do realize this is the stuff they put in OC spray?
ETA: Actually thinking about this, it probably would stop small cuts (no lacerations) since it is an inflammatory substance. However the SHU's is about 50,000+ degrees, which is not that hot, but will probably make you wish you did not use it. |

Yes I do realize this and I have been hit with OC spray and it didn't hurt that bad I just couldn't open my eyes, but it did clear out my sinuses at the time. |

As much as I want to call B.S., a buddy of mine who is into prepping has a sister who is an EMS instructor who told me this same thing. She said they have tried it, and cayenne acts to coagulate heavy bleeding. I'm still not convinced, but take it for what it's worth, you're not the only one to have heard it.

Snorting cayenne pepper also stops migraines.
For me when I get a migraine I get a pain behind one eye, always my right one. Snorting the cayenne pepper up my right nostril, side of the pain, stops the migraine if I can get a good snort. The trick is to get a good deep snort. Opens up the blood vessels or some such. Supprisingly it does not hurt as much as you'd think but beware of sneezing as you'll get red snot all over your shirt. Thankfully I only get a migraine about once or twice a year so I don't do this very often. However I now keep a good supply of cayenne pepper in my stash. . |

I had a lady try to home-treat a dog for snakebite before she came to me. The dog was bitten in the face, and she decided to slap some cayenne on there because a neighbor told her it would work.
The next day, I got to treat the dog for the snakebite and a NASTY chemical burn to the right eye. (actual photo of said canine––->)
And she's out there being paid to teach other people's kids.[>:/] I really shouldn't complain. As long as people do this, I have job security. -Hobbit |
