| I have no trouble finding 50lb bags of Rice / sugar / salt and flower but cant seam to track down big bags of dried beans around here (sams included) anyone have other places to look? |

There are a number of places to buy online.......but shipping makes it cost prohibitive. Look around for bulk food suppliers you can pick up from. Here's an interesting outfit that may be accessible to you: Morningside Good luck.......and if you order online, Honeyville is probably your best bet. |

Gordon food service or similar. The one near me generally has great northern and pinto on the shelf. $10 for 10 lbs or thereabouts. If you want something else, go to the service counter and ask them to order it for you. It will be ready to pick up in a day or two, and no charge for the order. I have gotten 30 lbs of lentils (just over $25) this way. And they have everything available - black, soy, small red, kidney, etc. |

If you are paying around $1 a pound for beans, why don't you just buy thesewww.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10151&productId=11153&langId=-1 $36 for 31lbs already packed for long term storage. Price inc shipping. The extra few bucks is a wash, as I don't have to buy o2 absorbers, Mylar bags and spend the time doing it myself. FB |
Cerald... I can agree with you, it was tough for me to. But, after talking with a couple of resturants, they told me when they get their food and then I went to the source. |
| The wife buys beans ever time she goes to the store. A couple of bags at a time. She puts them in the freezer then every so often I get in the mood. Put a one gallon vacuum bag in a empty coffee can, fill bag with beans and then seal her up. 2lbs per coffee can. Good size for barter if you need to, good size to transport if you need. |
See if you have a Dollar General near you. If you want pinto beans, I've been finding four-pound bags for $2.50/ea, which comes out to 62.5¢/lb, which beats the shit out of the price at Food Lion (they want $1/lb), Wal-Mart or any other place that I've looked. Prices on the other types are up there, so I don't know why they have such good prices on these. Not that I'm going to argue though.
