Where are you guys buying your PRI-G? I checked a few local places with no luck and would rather get it local than mail order.

Wal  mart, any major auto supplies should have it..

Try West Marine.  (boat store)

I have never seen it at an auto parts store or a wal mart around me, but I would be interested in any specific auto parts store.

Agreed, bought some there recently.  They also have PRI-D for diesel.  Haven't seen anything other than Sta-Bil at the local auto parts stores here.

In my area no go in NAPA, walmart, Kmart, Autozone.

No pri G at west marine but they did have pri D.

ETA- pri D is often found in truck stops

Did you call the company?  They are in Houston and I walked right in the front door.  They don't get too many walk-in customers but they were very nice and got me a few cases.  Saved about 50% too.

Is there a good reason to seek Pri-G as opposed to Sta-bil.

In the past I have seen Sta-bil gum up over time.  PRI's stuff doesn't do that.  I don't know if Sta-bil is better now.

Most of the SF types go with PRI G.  Their web site has test data that says they are better then sta-bil.   YMMV.

Plus with Pri-G you use alot less per unit of fuel, IIRC.

I can't remember all the reasons I went with PRI-G over Stabil several years ago, but I was convinced it was a better product after researching.  I have used it since and I have been satisfied with it.  I've got some fuel that I took down to New Orleans when I volunteered after Katrina and it is still good gas.  I just put PRI-G in it every year or so.  I only use this gas for the small engines.  I replace the gas for the vehicles about yearly.

As I understand it, PRI-G is the "next generation" of stabilizers after Sta-bil.

Sta-bil works nicely.  I've used Sta-bil'd gas that was three years old without issue (well, one tank worth anyway).  I wasn't out on a mission to test the stuff, but rather had overlooked rotating those three cans.

The last several years I've used PRI-G and have been equally satisfied.  I've been running the car and one and two-year-old gas for the last two weeks while I rotated my stock and everything's running great.

Of course, now and then I'll run some Lucas through a tank.

I've got five gallons left then all of my gas will be October 08.

Has anyone else noticed that the "newer" gas is is eating up gaskets, fuel pumps ect...
I have a 89 ford truck that lost 3 fuel pumps, (Both tank pumps, and the frame rail pump), within 6 months! My Quad, KLR-650, and girlfreinds Moped have all gone down do to fuel problems!

Yes, I had a tractor mower blow an engine due to the ethanol rotting some rubber on the carbs needle jets. Cost me $400. The tech says he sees it all the time now.

Back on topic, I've had very good luck with PRI-G, both in small engines and big. (The tractor mower only saw fresh gas).

I've never found it locally (not at Lowes, HD, *Mart, etc).

Ethanol is most likely your culprit.  Glad the .gov mandated the crap to save the world, that sure worked out great!

Question about Sta-bil and Pri G... Can those products go bad with time?

Had some PRI-G purchased in 98-99 that was used in 2005. Gas was rotated in 07 without any problems. So I would assume it will store at least 5-7 years or more (the PRI).

I'd like to know about shelf life, too.

I have an open bottle of PRI-G (whatever) and an open bottle of Sta-bil (whatever), and they are both very dark now. I think they may have gone bad.

A new bottle of Sta-bil looks a lot lighter than the open one.

Toss the open bottles?

Call the company and ask.  Given that people keep bottles in their trunk in the Texas heat for a year as they go through them, I would think that they would be fine.
