I looked at a EU3000i, but ended up going with the EU2000i.  I think the price differential was about $800-$1000.  The big item for me was weight and scalability.  While it would be nice to have the extra power in the eu3000, being light enough for the wife to move around was a big factor.  I think is is 25amp compared to the eu2000's 15 amps, and is still only 120AC.  If you are looking for a little more power, take a look at the Yamaha, as they are just as quiet, and they have a model right in the middle of the eu2000 & eu3000.  Your next step up from here is a eu6500(or something, ike that).  They run like 4 or 5 grand, so if you are going to spend that much $$, you might as well go for a whole house unit like guardian, and have it customized to muffle the noise.

I went with the Yamaha 2400IS inverter model with the tri-fuel adaptation.  This thing is sweet!  We have a 500 gallon propane tank.  I put in the QD plumbing so the generator can be hooked up and running in seconds.  It can be switched to gasoline just as quickly if necessary.  It easily handles our refrigerator/freezer, TV, computer equipment and a few lights, which is all we need.

I would recommend buying 2 Eu2000i genarators and wiring them together.  Two are much easier to move around than one heavy one and it's easier to conserve fuel with the one if you don't need the full load of both.

Wise sales is where i purchased my Yamaha. Great prices and quick shipping. They can't post their prices on Hondas on their website due to Honda's policies, you have to call or email for a price quote on a Honda.

I ended up with the EF3000iSEB model and love it but the Hondas are great also.

for those of you with honda eu2000i's this link is a yahoo group for eu2000's.

Its pretty interesting and there seems to be knowledgable guys that know how too troubleshoot and give good advice --I have been following a thread where a guy in Tx can't get his eu2000 started -, he has been on computer in his car trying to troubleshoot with the guys on there and he finally got it running today--he was stoked with the power being out from storm and all dealerships for repair closed.
