| I did a little searching and found out some facts. Those trailers weigh 2,600 pounds. have a 24 volt electrical system, and have an air over hydraulic brake system supplied by the towing vehicle. Take a big hammer with you as the brakes shoes may be locked up on the drums. Get yourself a pair of those magnetic towing lights to slap on the back to get your home. The ones I spotted sold originally for $8,600 in 1990. |
I recently sold my M101CN (Canadian copy of a M416)...I thought I would love it more than I did....with no tailgate it turned out to be a real pain to actually use it like a trailer. I towed it behind my Jeep a few times to carry camping gear. I ended up selling it when I bought my Dodge 2500 diesel due to lack of space in the driveway Those M105 trailers are seriously beefy.....They were designed to be towed by M35 duece and a halfs so with that much trailer you are going to have to do something about the brakes. Some of the guys over on Steelsoldiers have tried surge brakes: www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=233138 Another option is swapping out the axle for something with electric brakes. If you search over on SS you can find more info on that. |
Thanks for the links CCBurner. I'll look into that once I get the trailer home. I'll have to look into if TX requires brakes or not on trailers. If they do, then I might just go ahead and switch to a commercial axle; it probably be easier than dealing with surge brakes and military spare parts. |
Oh man you suck - you really suck!!! Great job on the find! |

Looks like Barstow has quite a few... Here is trailer page for gov liquidators |
| The .gov is rebuilding hundreds of those trailers to a newer revision, as well as new ones being built. We will be seeing a bunch of that model for sale in the near future. A company that I deal with is building the new beds. The bed alone weighs about 1,000 lbs. I don't think $131 would cover the cost of a new tailgate, good buy. Now you just need to get an M35 to pull it. |
Well, I agree, and the only thing that the wife told me when I said that is, "Where are we going to put it?" so I don't think that she objects to me getting one, I just think that it might be a little problematic if I don't buy her a house of our own before I try to bring home an M35! |

After seeing this thread I bought on too. I had to fill out a EUC. End User Cerifacate. Basicly stating that you were a US citizen and had to state the purpose of the purchase. Waited 1 week and my account page said that it was on hold pending submition of EUC. So I think that I filled it out wrong of the fax did not go thru. So I e-mailed them and asked about my EUC. Well it turns out since this is my auction I may have to wait 45 days for processing. I am sure my credit card has already been charged, Geez its only a trailer. |

Thats SWEET!! |
Well I bought the following to tow mine home (I got everything at etrailer.com): ![]() Cushioned Pintle Mounting Bar - 10 Hole ![]() Pintle Hook, Bolt-On, 10K ![]() Magnetic Towing Light Kit, 20 ft. Long Cord And a spare one of these (it comes with one but I bought an extra) ![]() Pintle Hook Mounting Kit I got it all for $184.80. So all in all with taxes and parts, less than $350 plus diesel & hotel to go and get it. Now I just have to find some bows to put up the tarp... |
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I'm going to use my '06 Silverado 2500 Duramax to pull it from Colorado Springs to El Paso. BTW GREAT job on Lights Out. If you ever get her published how do I go about getting a signed copy? |

I am still waiting for EUC to be approved. I had to make revisions and then I had to sign a non export agreement. That has been a week since I have done all that and over 2 weeks since the auction ended. With all the paper work you would think I was getting an airplane or warship. It is just a tailer. |
I purchased a deuce back in February and a trailer for it in June. The first euc took about 5 weeks for approval, the one for the trailer only took about 3 weeks. Your credit card will not be charged until the euc is approved by battle creek. You won't get any notice about this other than an email stating the payment has been made. After you have picked up the tailer you can apply for title from GL by filling out the SF97 form. This takes about 60 days and they waived the fee because it took so long. The pictures of the trailer don't do it justice. It really is a big trailer! |
