| Tiger Valley is hosting its third Bug Out Drill, October 11th 2008 at its facility in Waco, Texas. The first year 20% finished the course, last year 80% finished. Most of the same crew did both events and improved vastly with physical conditioning and equipment. The course will be the same this year as in the past, 15 miles on foot with over 30 challenges to test equipment and physical skills. You will need a rifle and pistol to complete the course, everything else is left up to you. four magazines of ammo, if you don't miss. More to follow.....Cost is $150.00 |
|
The idea behind this one as in the past is that you are in your vehicle and bad stuff happens. You need to move 15 mile to rescue a family member who works in a bad area. Your vehicle has been disabled and you have to move on foot through areas both in and out of a hard core city. Things that happened last year: Lots of things, we hope none of which you will see again this year. We want to test these things: 1. Can you move a reasonable distance and still function 2. Does your gear work like it's supposed to 3. Can you think under stress 4. Do you have enough gear or to much We will have a shotgun start, one person out every 60 seconds by order of payment. Points awarded for every challenge completed plus time through the course. |
As far a I am aware, no one got hurt. For the individuals who had difficulty and problems (myself) included, it was a great chance for a spot check and to see that some planning and effort has to be made inorder to "be prepared." No one was seriously injured were they? |

Does anyone have anymore info about the events of last year. I understand that they will be different this year but it at least can give a guy an ideahanks, Joe |
| HERE is a link to last years BOD. There's a link to a slide show on page 3. |
I think some of the pics where hosted at Tiger Valleys site. I cant find them right now though. Tiger Valley |
HERE is a link to the photobucket account with the pics. Just checked TV website. It's a one day event. |
It's not that bad as long as you've got your gear sorted out and have plenty of water. The heat will take down more people than anything else. That and your feet. I dropped out my first year due to some nasty blisters. The second year, wore better fitting footwear and changed my socks often during the event. No blisters and I finished |

Oh.....I should have been on top of this and posted the links for the slide shows. I cannot get it to work the way I want. I'll post direct links. s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee102/mm38photos/Tiger%20Valley%20Bug%20Out%202007/?action=view¤t=8dff6589.pbw s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee102/mm38photos/Tiger%20Valley%20Bug%20Out%202007/?action=view¤t=a9dc7aa0.pbw s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee102/mm38photos/Tiger%20Valley%20Bug%20Out%202007/?action=view¤t=ae5c9d05.pbw s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee102/mm38photos/Tiger%20Valley%20Bug%20Out%202007/?action=view¤t=cf92b22e.pbw mm |
Hmmm, gears are grinding on this. I'm really interested. |
|
OK, I've got the little lady interested in this as well. What say ye about the wife participating? She's still on the fence as she'd have to do some shooting / training to get ready but I'm working on her. Also, what's the situation for significant others attending if they don't enter? Do they just hang out at the start/finish or what? |
If this year is like years past there will be several people (wives, family, friends) attending that are not participants, so there is plenty of company. |
Someone needs to do some wall-to-wall counseling with that guy!
|
| Hey while we are all eagerly discussing this - I may be ripping DVD's with hundreds of tech manuals, building guides and weapons manuals, ect from my "survival hard drive" to hand out for free. (part of my job allows me to sit on my ass and just download stuff) I would just need to know how many folks will be in at the end count. Its not much, but is a good way to hand out some good info to some people who might actually appreciate it. |
Put me down for one, thanks for the offer! ETA: I'm hoping to bring another big bucket of various medical supplies to give out like last year. |
will do, thanks for offer! ETA: if you get a chance to download anymore stuff, can you look for stuff on agriculture? Maybe some sort of guide to farming common crops? There seems to be a boom lately in the interest of gardening. |
