I've been reading up on insurgent tactics and guerrilla warfare and came across this. See if you can guess the author before scrolling down.

So what do you think? Good, bad, hate the commie bastard no matter what.

Che complied one of the most comprehensive lists of subjective conditions necessary for a successful insurgency.  Fortunately for the Bolivian people he never followed his own advise.

I took a course in undergrad on Insurgency and Counter-insurgency in Latin America. Interesting stuff.  Their is a lot to be learned from Che, Debray, Guzman etc. Most of it is theoretical.  None of these guys proved to be very good in the "field"

hate him but he was very good at his game. if he only followed his own advice. I think ego was his and many a man's downfall.

From the first paragraph I thought it was Mac speak of Philippine guerrillas.  Got lost after that.

Interesting that the socialist advises that the individual should have his own private food stash with him.  Not very idealistic, now, is it, Che?

Interesting read.  Parts of it seem a little silly, but overall it looks like a pretty good guide for putting a kit together.

Che and Mao both wrote interesting books on insurgency warfare. Both had good understandings on many levels of organization and logistical issues. Good historical reading - don't forget to examine the flip side of these things here. The forewords alone are very interesting reads and well worth reading.

Yup. The PDF doesn't have the forewords though - the FM is a good read by itself but Petraeus has some good things to say in the forward and the other contributions are good reads as well.

all that bullshit and all he got was a stinking shirt!

Sounds to me like he was planing a boyscout outing instead of an insurgency!
