I wanted some suggestions of companys to look at that market a 75v DC to 120v AC inverter that runs about 5 amps. Also curious about what types of features should be looked for when purchasing an inverter. |

How about from 74v DC? Is that close enough? Locoverter.com This company makes devices that convert 74v DC from locomotives to 12v DC and 110v AC. |
I have to be able to run my laptop in my Bug-out-Locomotive |

They make special laptop power supplies which will plug right into any 12vdc power source. Mine was something like $60, and came with plug adapters to fit several different brand names. Mine is quite quiet. As far as using the usual 12vdc to 115vac inverters, I found that those made entirely too much (electrical) noise. It would wipe out weak signals when I was working digital commo over my ham radio. Take a pic of the power recepticle on your laptop and post it on the thread. I may have one that will work which I don't need anymore. Not that you are going to get it for free or anything..... ETA> I think what you need is a converter, not an inverter. To use an inverter on a laptop would entail taking direct current to alternating current back to direct current again (assuming that your laptop requires DC power like all of them do). |
The application that I'm using the inverter in doesn't have a 12v DC source. It only has 75v DC, so I do need an inverter to go from 75v DC to a 120v AC standard outlet to plug in the laptop or various other things. |
