anyone else get hit with the 4 day flu? I just got "recovered" after trip to er and doctors office over the last week. lots of vomit, big D and coughing and the worse possible way to drop pounds. |
|
Knock on wood... Not sure its hit here in Fl yet. I had a business trip to Ft Lauderdale last week, I opted to drive the 4 hours rather than spend 5 hours in airports and a plane. Kids and planes are the two biggest petri dishes for growing these damn plagues, I swear. |
|
I just got over it ... Kinda strange, it starts with real sore throat, then rapidly goes to high fever. I maxed out at 103F. It took 3 days in bed, with Robitussen CF to keep the cough down. Aspirin to keep the temp down. I coughed so much my stomach muscles were ultra sore. Back to 100% on day 4. |

Had it for two days, 8 month pregnant wife had it for two and daughter had it for about a week. Unpleasant to say the least. Hit my daughter the hardest though. Got passed around the kids in the neighborhood, the office and several other places. Nasty stuff. Just shows you how fast and pervasive that kind of stuff can be. |
That's what I got: Woke up 2 Sundays ago w/ the flu. A secondary resp. infection developed a day or so after. By Thursday I was over the flu and over the infection by Superbowl Sunday night. I then woke up Monday morning w/ strep. YAH! |
You bet it is. It hit me Monday around midnight. My doctor said he had seen 4 or 5 people already this week with it. |
Excellent thinking, BayEagle! I hate flying in flu season. Sick bastards coughing all over the plane. I think I'm on day 4 here but still miserable, coughing my freaking lungs out. Coughing so hard I get light headed because I can't breathe in. Chest and abs ache. |

it's going around at work, but so is a bronchitis-type thing, which is what I had week before last... went through this week fine until Friday, when I started coughing and being sniffly again, and I was like, "oh HELL no..." and popped some vitamin C and chicken soup... (sounds corny, but that tends to work for me...) not sure if I was overreacting to a little cough, but I sure didn't want to go through THAT again... I'm hoping I don't get the flu... never get the shot, and only got the flu for the first time ever last year... |
Same here - flu & strep throat. Had a lead in time of about 4 or 5 days, then went to doc, diagnosed with strep. More than just strep though. And the whole family has it. |
| There is NO GI component to influenza. There is NO stomach flu. I'm not saying you people don't feel like hell and I'm pretty sure its a virus but its not the flu virus if you have loose stools and vomiting. Influenza is QUICK onset of fever, bodyaches and maybe a headache. Don't ruin the chances of Tamiflu working down the road by taking it for something other than flu. SS |

Seastake has it right.nfluenza doesnt produce the vomiting and diarrhea reported, we are seeing in oregon at least 4 people per 12 hour shift with this virus, its everywhere, the most common signs are body aches, weakness, diarrehea and vomiting. Bleach water is the only thing known to kill this and is what we use in the ER. just wash your hands and if someone in your house has it, have them use one bathroom and everyone else the other, if not possible, use bleach water to clean. . |

I had it strong for 2 days then it just seemed to linger in my bowels for a week and I couldn't shake the "D". Imodium held it at bay but I needed to keep a close eye on the clock for my next dose or better be in the bathroom when my dosage wore off or else I was hurting and running for the throne. Sucked. |
| We got hit with it here in Texas. Took my 5 yr old to the pediatrician on Thursday. She was running a fever and complaining of stomach ache and sore throat. She tested positive for flu and possible strep. Our pediatrician wrote a Tamiflu prescription for everyone in the family. seems to be doing the trick. |
