I have some 5 gal buckets I want to use they have lids  but do not look to be excellent sealers is there any tape i can use to better seak or is it my best bet to insert mylar bags? Thanks M

If the lids are ok, you can put silicone on the lid before sealing.  If not, U.S. Plastics has nice lids with seals for about $1.50 and shipping is not bad.  I would encourage you to go ahead and use mylar just as a risk abatement tool.  I.e. if you need this stuff, you REALLY need it.

  Thats a nice place to do business.  I need to get another catalog.
Just use some silicon like the other poster said, and get a lid lifter
to make it easier to open up later.  The Gamma seals are nice,
but they are expensive if your storing multiple buckets.  Its a lid
that fits on a bucket with a threaded and gasketed lid inside the
regular lid.  The last time I bought Gamma seals they were about
$10 each.
