Oil the Glock with CLP, vaccum pack it in plastic, vacuum pack the ammo, and make a container out of a PVC pipe and two caps.  Vacuum pack a hacksaw blade, then duct tape it to the outside of the PVC pipe.

You don't even need the saw blade to open that PVC......Just take a piece of ordinary string and pull it rapidly back and forth on the PVC section....it'll cut that stuff just as quickly as any blade......

how about putting a screw on lid and seal the threads with teflon tape or plumbers paste? A really creative person would make it look like a sewer cleanout

I'd probably go with a cheap revolver or a mak.  $400-$500 is more than I'd want to spend on a "stash gun".

I have 4 marlin mod 60's stashed in 4 locations
all are in PVC pipe buried near recongnizable to me landmarks that short of a nuke shoud still be easy to identify should shtf..

these have been there over 25 years at this point
I did pull one last year as I was in the area,  to check its viability...500rds of remington .22 with 2.99 price tag still attached, a 4 blade case pocket knife (the multi-tool of the 70's), 1 el cheapo tube feed, iron sight .22 rifle..all high and dry so to speak..repacked, reburied.
maps are in my Will Kit for those left behind..

total expense in the 80's about 60 bucks. not alot of money, not highest quality, but better than a sharp stick and enough to get you to a better place should shtf..and in todays money,..maybe 120 bucks,..these little .22 are everywhere at gunshows for 100 or less..

If SHTF..its not the price of your toys
its your talents, abilities, knowledge and wherwithal to LIVE and SURVIVE

well all that and the grace of God and lady luck..

There is a company that makes plastic type bags to store guns in long term.   They have some chemical in them to help prevent rust.

I would store a cleaning kit in your can also, just ensure to bag up your bottle of CLP.  I would also include a cheap holster.  If you need a spare pistol, chances are you will need the holster to go with it.

i would pack a cleaning rod, and solvent in a sealed glass bottle.  also a few jags, brushes and patches,  pack ammo in original box and vacuum seal it.
pvc is 10 times better for this than a metal can.
bury below the frost line.

how would the army do it if they were cashing supplies?

Dirt can work it's way into the treads, always have a backup plan.

i would get a bigger pvc pipe put it up and down then slide another one in with ur gun so u candig it up then pull it up easy. if not it might be hard to dig up and get out with the rain and mud that will harden around it.

If you are going that far, it wouldn't hurt to make the stasha big bigger and throw in a change of clothing (loose since you main gain some weight between now and whenever), a pair of worn in boots plus some cash.

I think buying a stash is counter productive.  To me it would be better to "stash" something like this at a relatives house or (very) trusted friends house.

If you have time to head out to the interlands and dig up your stash, then there is no immediate threat.  But if you are caught with nothing (or can't take anything with you) the threat is pretty immediate and having your stash in an alternate location with some extra items (like some clothes, basic tolietries, good knife and a couple hundred bucks) would be far better.  To me burying stashes and weapons caches should be for major weapons (like rifles) etc.  Pistols and such should be stashed in easy to get places like cars etc.

Used to be you could do this with a bus station locker, but no a days I don't know about that.

Just depends on what you are going to use it for?

Google a "fukit" which is verbotten on ARFCOM since it contains some non legal ideas in there as well.  It is short for fugitive kit.

I used a threaded and teflon-taped PVC end cap, with the appropriate wrench duct-taped to the outside in a Ziploc.

I inherited a nice Colt .22 auto from my father and also have a Trijicon Reflex II laying around these days.  While having a "stash pistol" has some appeal regarding my preparations, selling these items and getting a nice Saiga 12 has slightly better appeal to me.
