I need to build a false wall  but I need it solid so that if someone is searching my house-the wall will be solid yet  still will have the ability for me to open it & access the room...any ideas or web sites to help me out?

Try The Big Book of Secret Hiding Places by Jack Luger Loomponics Unlimited. And also look at Ragnar Benson's Modern Weapons Caching, Paladin Press.

wall off a corner of your basement, get a steel entry door, use 2 dead bolts instead of a knob.  hide behind pegboard or workbench on hidden hinges.

if we are on the same page, i think that its not the best idea to be posting publicly about this sort of thing.

best idea...
buy a case of beer, get some friends together and start brainstorming.
get more beer, start building.
get some hard liquor and get nice and loaded, then get rid of all the witnesses.

Don't forget when you hide something to make sure you also hide the evidence. If you have a hidden room, make sure there's no "tracks" pointing the way there. If the room with the entrance has carpeting, watch out for the carpeting not to get a track in it "leading" right in to the room. Even if you have hardwood floors or tile, you could still leave a trail on the floor pointing the way if you go in and out of the room often.

An experienced searching...burglar... will compare the outside dimensions of the structure with the inside volume and know of any dead space, and where to find it, without recognizing a false wall exists. Once they know where to look, it's only a matter of time.

A dog trained to sniff out nitrates can give you away too.

Better that no-one have any idea where to look, not even close enough for a dog's nose to be in range. Outdoors, or some other building, perhaps on a different piece of property

Or a very small recess, high off the ground. Between wall studs, HVAC chase, joist bays between floors. Those are the obvuious places, and therefore may not be effective. There are plenty of others I'd rather not discuss in public.

Pretend you are in the market for a house, and visit several jobsites of buildings under construction for more ideas.

Drafts can often give them away, too.

I've been in a house that used a hinged bookcase for a door into an attic space.

I always wanted one of these. Maybe when we build the new house.

I was in a house that had a hidden pantry.  The doorway looked like all of the other kitchen cabinets and functioned as a shallow cabinet.  It swung out and over to reveal a 4'x10' walk in pantry.
The floorplan of the house was so cut-up that even after I saw it, it was hard to find from the rooms behind the kitchen.

Well first, I can tell you it’s not mine. What I can tell you is that the moving case weights a lot, thus the support had to custom made and it had a magnetic lock to hold it in place, other then, I don’t know too much…

But…

Here’s a link to another one…

If I wanted a secret room what I would do is dig in the basement. Cut a hole in the concrete and get some equipment to dig a hole down. Check the water table so you don't dig into water. Hopefully you have a friend who is an engineer and is trustworthy.

I can not think of any other way to add a secret room without big brother knowing. They have your blueprints at city hall. They can see the size of your room and they will know if it is not right. They have scanners that will go through wood and can tell if something is hidden.

But what are the chances they will look down at the concrete floor in the basement? They will look at the walls.

Another option is to find a contractor who will submit false plans to the city. This can be a big problem is caught. Many cities send out inspectors and they will catch this kind of stuff.

Remember, google maps and unlce sam can look at your property any time with satelites.

One last idea. If you have a secret room with a metal door, it might make sense to make the whole wall metal. Most people will look for something that does not fit in. If they are scanning a wall and the whole thing is metal, then nothing sticks out. If they scan a wall and only a 3 foot by 7 foot section is metal then it will need investigating.
