Yay..according to a tech at Surefire, CREE will be available after June.

The CREE KL1 heads will provide 5 more lumens for the single 123a and 15 more lumens for 2, both will run longer.

Maybe old news, but I'm glad there is an upgrade path.

will I be able to replace the head on my shotgun mounted surefire or only on new purchases?

Can buy replacement lamp assemblies made by CREE for your 6p/G2 size lights now for a fraction of the cost of a Surefire LED head. I ordered several  for my aging collection of 6P flashlights and have no reason to believe that they won't be fantastic.

Yep-- I've been EDCing one for weeks. Love it. Will soon replace it with a Fenix, but these are still great lights for the money.

It's interesting that they've decided to go for much longer run-time, rather than much higher brightness...Definitely not the tradeoff I'd make in a tactical light.

They've been under DDoS attack for several days. Somebody forgot to pay the "protection" fee this month...
