Not much action this week as I've been recovering from the big purchases of food supplies I made during the holidays. 1. Added some money to my bank here at home. 2. Bought a couple of small 2.5 gallon gas cans to add to my MFC collection. |

In the last 3 days, I've purchased. 400rds .223 200rds 22lr 20 rds .243 20lbs rice 150 votive candles 4 1gal storage jars. A new compass. I just buy extra shit whenever I go into a store, but I need to do a dedicated canned good run real soon. |

Bought a new furnace hot surface ignitor and replaced the old one that burned out - $48 from the local HVAC repairman. Taught my wife how to light the furnace with a blowtorch. Then I bought a spare ignitor - $38 over the internet shipped from some HVAC place in KY. |

Last night I cleaned out my food/gun/camping storage room. Reorganized my gun safe and put valuables in there on the shelves. Marked caliber/quantity of rounds on my ammo cans with one of those little sticker typewriter deals. Plans for the weekend include. $100 trip to coscto to stock up on TP/Paper towels, canned goods and some rice. Also got a dozen clear plastic fishing lure holders on clearance at walmart for 2 bucks each. Have been filling each with different stuff like book matches/fire starters/mantles, another has batteries, another has assorted meds. Very easy to access and keep track of inventory as you can see everything in em. Also going to clean out the crap in my shed and store my 5 20lb tanks in there. Will be taking junk to the dump and will keep and eye out for exta propane cylinders. Need to put up 2 more "muscle racks" for storage and finish cleaning up the garage. Basically just a lot of organization so things are easier to find and access. |

today i haven't done anything, this week put up 10 more gallons of gas, got another gallon of coleman fuel, got one of those blue 50 gal barrels for water and i am thinking of getting a reloading kit. also got 20lbs of hot coco mix for free! *update* picked up 500 rds of 7.62x39 for the sks edited for update |
, been to the dentist, and gotten our new pantry setup and stocked. 
I did the dishes and laundry. Doing either without running water and/or power is going to suck. Seriously folks. Do you procrastinate about doing laundry for two weeks and/or wait until the dishes are piled high (but you have 34,000 rounds of center-fire ammo and enough guns to outfit a platoon of armchair rangers)? If so, you're not going to bemoan the lack of everyday upkeep on home chores if and when the revolution comes. John |

Just thinking out loud here. Let's say you order something online (food, ammo, water filter, whatever). It shows up three days later. So, in a "what did you do today" thread, when can you claim credit for doing something? Is it Day 1, when you place the order? Or Day 4, when it shows up? Both? You're very welcome for this incredibly helpful post. |
continued rehab on elbow.  rotated 4-week food bin. repacked my BOB, including the pocket SAS survival guide and petzl headlamp that i got from amazon this week. broke down and ordered a chest rig that i didn't absolutely need.

I started re-reading my FM on Land Navigation and Map Reading. I knew why I didn't complete it years ago when I first got it...very difficult to understand. I ordered a book off of Amazon on Map Reading and Using a Compass. I stopped by Office Depot on my way home from work last night. As I was in the check out line I saw a small magnifying lens, credit card size...only this one has a micro-light built in. I came very close to buying it, and as I was going to my car, I regretted it. I'll go back this weekend and pick one up. Should be a good help for reading a topo map at night. I'm making plans for this weekend, specifically cleaning out my work area and organizing stuff. I've got prep stuff laying about that needs to find a home. |

Picked up 82 boxes of Girl Scout cookies! On an overly optimistic note,I freed up a LOT of brass for reloading this past week.  ie-I shot.A LOT! Kind of sad when I used to just let 'em fly w/o thinking of the tiome/expense of replacing them. Now, I think,"Dang.I've only got X thousand left.Better call it a day".  Been too busy cutting up trees etc from the ice a week and a half ago. Just about caught up.But the saws are all running good! |
| Brought in the GHB from out of the truck to oil the knives and clean/lube the AR-7 I keep in it, also rotate some foodstuffs and water in it, add a crank radio/flashlight I got not long ago. Will do the same for the wifes GHB next weekend. |

I have to do that. Had to get a couple of ak kits for a trade I am doing on the EE for an sks. Had to go back into the gun/ prep room, had to wade through a bunch of 6 gallon containers of ABC soup mix. They were in the hallway, the wife got pissed and stacked them in front of the door. Climbed over a huge pile of surplus wool blankets between two stacks of mre's, that shit has got to get organized. |

In the last week I have: -emptied the 15 Gal of reserve fuel into the truck and refilled the cans plus added another 5 Gal can of fuel -Took the new ATV out for a 60Km (37 miles) and practiced my map reading/GPS navigation skills -Ordered a Norico 870 clone to try out (I've always wanted a 870 with a 14" barrel) -Tested out the new stock on my current 870 |

Finished busting rust on my BOT, and purchased a high(er) quality barrel for my 10/22. very good deal on heavy barrel/stock combo  Next week maybe I'll refinish the opposite fender. Next project? Probably will have something to do with cleanup, inventory, and re-organization. |

Today I learned where to get free soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and more...also very cheap (like $.25 each) packs of toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, and more...also very cheap canned goods, pasta, etc. And I can get them every month. Now I just have to go clean out the cupboards to make room for my shopping trip tomorrow.

Climbed Strawberry Peak Sweated through a nylon T-shirt, and REI brand sweat-wicking shirt, and a nylon windbreaker on the last mile. I was exhausted by the end. Ass-busting hike, but not ass-busting for a climber. Then pulled a 12-hour shift on the ambulance today with a patient coding while I was dropping her off at the ER. Scary. She barely made it. Good stuff, can't wait to do it again next weekend. |

Yesterday it snowed early in the morning and that lasted about all day, which then turned into freezing rain. I returned a 5 gallon gas can to Home Depot, as it was different than the three that I had recently purchased....had no handle on the side. So I fould the exact model at China-Mart and bought it. I did our bulk grocery shopping at BJ's and filled in some of the foods that we have used up over the past 3 months of my unemployment. I went back to Office Depot and bought a product called an "OWL" or Optical Wallet Light. Dang nifty little map reading magnifyer and light. I posted a thread and pics on it here. Arfcom thread OWL |

In fact, underneath that stuff in the trailer is at least two canopies. Solar panel was sitting behind the trailer, and the commo packout was on the opposite side. O' ye of little faith... One of these days I'll take an aerial shot of the contents. I don't think of it as a "bug out trailer", as that term has a misleading connotation with regards to my intents. I think of it as more of an "expeditionary homestead". In other words, its about mobility; not "bugging out" as such. |

In the last couple days: * finally assembled cable to feed house from genny and ran genny for 20 min's, or so. * ordered and received (4) 3x30 rd mag pouches for web-gear (vest was too heavy/unwieldy) * got 100 .223 stripper clips/w feeders (load 'em up, tomorrow) * drew up plans for cistern * rotated canned/dry goods * acquired three more 5 gal gas cans (for a total of nine) * read & re-read countless SF threads! Also, took Mrs to and from gall bladder surgery! (and providing necessary TLC!) A happy/comfortable Mrs is definitely a 'prep!' And . . . visited surgeon who 'did' my shoulder and 'got him' to order MRI's of my entire spinal column (attempting to discern root cause for host of problems)! That too is a 'prep,' I think - since, right NOW, I couldn't carry a BOB to save my ass!

I did a sneak and peak at two K-marts and a Wal-mart to see if they had ammo in stock. They did not have very much by anyones standard K-mart only a couple of boxes of 22lr, and only magnum and odd calibers of rifle ammo no 308/223/30'06 Walmart was not much better.  Buy now!!!! I did buy the last two bulk packs of FED 22lr, not much else left.

I re-organized & repacked my BoB last thursday in preparation for this last weekend's snowfall. Glad I did! I wound up using some of the stuff to weather the storm in comfort while digging out of the snow-in. Glad I make preps!

right now at work we are at the 'end of the month' push so not much time off during the week. I am preparing to order a small axe for my BOB, probably a Granfors Bruks Small Forest Axe. This hax is more like a large hatchet with a fantastic head....can be stropped razor sharp. I am wading through all the threads I can on cookware for camping. I'm still up in the air between, titanium, anodized coated aluminum...and have pretty my written stainless steel off due to the weight. |

Last week: I got two swiss surplus MFC's, 12 MRE heaters, 72 empty sand bags and some water purification tablets. This weekend: I picked up 200 rounds of Lake City .223 green tip along with my first AR15 type rifle (XM15 e2s) Ordered six 15 round (New Jersey legal) mags for the Bushmaster. Fired up my Kero heater to make sure it's good to go. Shoveled the walkway and the driveway. Today: I went to work to pay for my insanity this past weekend. |

i bought a pair of waterproof match cases for the bob. unfortunately i got them home and they were much cheaper than the other metal ones out there. So bad I couldn't get the lid off one with out the whole thing getting bent out of shape using my fingers  . I couldn't imagine 1. them sealing well 2. being easy to open in an emergency with frost bit numb hands 3. some corporate scum foisting these on people.they'll be returned tomorrow. They were some generic brand at Gander mtn. Not coghlans. needless to say I wasn't paying too much attention when i picked them up due to the lil chicquita there. My bad. |

Have lost 30.7 lbs in the last 4 weeks by eating salads for lunch and dinner, giving up alchohol (the shakes have almost stopped - Joke!!!) and no sodas! Really haven't started to increase my exercise but am going to start in the next week. Exercise bike and treadmill for 25 minutes during lunch hour. Getting my health right before I turn 40 is a major prep!!! |

Called an electrician to see about getting 3 phase out to the farm. I honestly have no clue how to do this or if it can even be done. Anyone who is a real electrician, could you message me? I would truly appreciate just a couple questions answered. Down here it will 3-4 weeks before I get a real electrician to talk to me.

Yesterday - I made a Pepsi can stove and tried it out. It boiled two cups of water in 5 minutes using only two cap fulls of isopropyl alcohol. Today - I ordered the Mainstay 3600 calorie bars for my GHB food rations and I'm trying them out. I want to see how I feel after only eating three of the squares (1200 calories). I have a desk job so I'm not to active. We'll see how it goes. Sunday - It's time I bought a pistol so I'm going to the gun range to try out a bunch of out to see what I like best.. |
