LOL Banjo minnow...   LOL  I bought a set of these back when they were on infomercials about 10 yrs ago or so.  I tried them around here in NY and I never caught one damn thing on them.  Good luck with yours maybe they will work better for you.

I like them. The minnows tear and don't last very long if you're catching fish.

Just to have the contrary opinion, I begged Dad to get them for me 12 years ago, and me and my cousin probably caught all the bass in my uncles 3.5 acre pond five times each over the course of two summers.

No really lunkers, but consistent 15 inch bass.  maybe 2 pounders.  Wasn't uncommon to catch 30 plus in 4-5 hours.  Catch them every other cast when it was really on.

After that, for some reason we didn't seem to have much luck with them.  A little while after that, I kinda went on a 10 year hiatus from fishing, and I just got back into it.

You want a fairly stiff rod tip.  Not some super bendy little crappie or panfish rod.  The action depends on jerking your tip about 18 inches and getting the bait moving quickly.  During the startup and the slowdown, the minnow body flexes and that is what gives it that spastic action and the eratic change in direction that really brings the magic out.

Same thing on line, don't want really streachy stuff that soaks up all your rod twitch.

Work it pretty slow.  A plus is they are pretty well weedless.  If you ever run out of weedguard bands, just get more from someone with braces, they are the same thing.

I never had too much luck with the minnows.  But the frogs that came with them made it look like I knew what I was doing.

Hmmm, never had too much luck with the frogs!

They are about the only thing that is left other than the chartruse color minnows, which I never had much luck with either.

Might have to give it a go when I get enough money for a bass rod.

My 15 year old, made in korea $10 Mitchell special gave up the ghost last fall.  Thought I had a nibble went to set the hook and kapow, sounded like I slapped it right into a willow tree, but I didn't.

Broke about 6 inches above the rod junction.

It didn't owe me anything, so I am not complaining.

its funny how that works, isn't it?

I wouldn't feel bad at all if a 15 year old rod bit the dust on me.  But it starts to hurt when you break an ugly stick on your 3rd time out.
