Come on, everyone knows Texans can't play football J/K
I say that to anyone from any State BUT Texas, Florida or Pennsylvania, the rest of the States don't know shit about Football, maybe, maybe California but that is it

Going to be really hard on me in November trying to juggle work, bass fishing and deer hunting. Why couldnt I have been born rich instead of good looking? !

Thanks Bob. I really should take more pics, those results are pretty typical for this time of year. You hear alot about pools 4&5 on The Red (Bassmaster Classic held there this year) but I fish pool 2 in Central La. Its not just the fishing either, I see deer, turkey, beaver, nutria, you name it. Really helps a guy get his head on straight after dealing with the BS of everyday life. Last spring I spotted a huge gator, had to be 12 to 14 feet. I named him lucky cause he was blind in his right eye and missing his back right foot! Yes I got that close!

Nice Pic, the little guy looks happy and that's the way it should be

Up here we would have to blow a hole in the ice to do any fishing right now and I hate it, I hear the Muskie calling my name

Good Job on having fun with the little one

Oh man......I'd love to out on the lake right now, but its a little cool. It was right around 27 degrees lastnight(I know...thats nothing like Ohio).  This pic was taken back in Oct. I was sooo proud.....he really wanted to come out with me and my buddy, so my wife met us at the ramp after school. I tied him on something fairly tame with a single hook 1/8 pink jig head with a chartruse rubber grub. He was justa chunkin' and awindin' and the hollared 'Dad...I got one". I said yea   uh huh. Then looked over and sure as shit his little rod was doubled over. He reeled it in all by himself.

I went out fishing for opening day of the fishing season in CT with my mom and caught a really nice 8lb, 24 inch brown trout on my last cast. I was just getting ready to leave when I hooked into it. My drag was a little messed up so that made it even more fun reeling it in and then I didn't have my normal net, I only had my uncles that was like 10 inches long and 5 inches wide so it was pretty small. I had to walk about 30 feet downstream because it took off so hard and fast and then a guy I was fishing next to came over and took my net and netted it for me but the net was so small and the fish so big that it's head was the only thing we could get in the net and that barely fit.

It was caught at the Salmon River in Colchester, CT.

Here's a couple pictures. I didn't get any at the river because I didn't have my camera on me.

and then here's one with mine next to the one my mom caught. Her's is about 12 inches or so and that seemed to be the normal size of what most people were getting. Besides mine we didn't see many that were much bigger then 12 inches.

Sorry for the pics being dark I took them with my Iphone.

Thanks! Her's looks like a minnow compared to mine lol.

8 lbs is super big for CT. The ones those size are all grown in hatcheries and then released into the river as stocked fish for people to catch. As a comparison, most of the people around us were catching ones that were maybe 11-14 inches long and weighed 1lb or less so the one I caught is much much bigger then the normal ones others were catching.

Biggest catfish I have ever caught! Weighed in just over 30 lbs! Caught him on a smal piece of cut skip-jack on a 4/0 hook. Chattahoochee River, Columbus Ga. Its a shame they are gonna tear up the same part of the river to make a white-water course..can anyone say Deliverance...or gator bait?

I'm late to this thread, but I enjoyed seeing all the pics.  Lots of fish out there that I wouldn't even know how to fish for.

Here's my 10 y/o son and I this past February.  I'm holding a 17" 2lb Brook Trout.  He's got an 18" 2 lb Splake and a smaller Splake.  A Splake is a Brook Trout/Lake Trout hybrid.

We caught them in about 3 feet of water and through almost 3 feet of ice.

The meat is ok, nothing special.  They have a lot of small bones so it's best to cook them slowly to give the bones time to soften up so you won't notice them while eating (this pretty much only allows for baking).  Baking with some good seasoning, squeeze a little lemon over the top, some salt and pepper, potatoes on the side, and you've got yourself a halfway decent fish dinner.  If you want to eat what you catch try to fish for something else though.

That is a Silverhead Asian carp....the type that jump in boats in the big rivers. I've heard that they are not anything like regular American carp and are actually good to eat.

I didn't mean to catch that one, he caught himself by jumping in the boat while I was fishing a slough.

I just saw where the State of 'Illnoize" entered into a contract to send 30,000,000 Lbs of these carp to China because these carp are considered a delicacy in China.

And The Great Lakes states and especially Ohio are dumping a ton of money into finding a way to eradicate the grass carp and/or find a way to keep them out of Lake Erie and the other Great Lakes

took my boy out fishing today. big storm coming in tonight so it was a little windy but figured they'd be biting
I was ecstatic when I got the one on the left, then I hooked the one on the right!
in fact, I'm pretty sure I hooked him twice.  had him right upto the boat and he got off.  sat on the same spot and hooked him again 20 minutes later.
was a FUN fight.  he ended up 20" and 3.75lbs
we had bass steak for supper

Thanks!

I've always been interested in getting my string stretched by a monster muskie. That has to be a rush! When I was stationed in Washington catching those big steel heads and cut throats definitely got the blood pumping!.

The best thing about those pics that you can't see, is every single one was taken by my Dad either in my boat or his.
