Any words of advice?

I am venturing to a local shoot this weekend.  Dont want to look too green. I am going with some consistent shooters but it will be my first trip.

Take binoculars so you can actually see the ten ring and be able to know where to shoot.

Thanks for the tip.

The shoot was cancelled do to excessive snow on the trail.  That sucks!

Looks like I am waiting untill the 6th.

Don't forget the arrow lube or an arrow gripper, just in case they have cheap targets.

Dark nocks are also nice.  Keeps people from aiming at your well placed shots.

Glass is a big one.  It's nice if at least one person in the group has a hip quiver to pack your arrows around through the course.

That was the one thing that I wish I had on my first shoot.  A good gripper is a must have on the course.

Some pro shops will have a laminated card set on a ring on the animals you are going for. I mean, I know where to shoot a turkey or pig but where the hell was the sweet spot on an alligator?

My first 3D shoot, the people I was shooting with gave me a lot of pointers. Archers are awesome.

Thanks for the help and keep the advice coming. I will actually be going with my local gun shop owner. He has always done a little with archery and is who I got my bow off of. It should be fun as long as they stop canceling the shoots around here.  With thw Obama rush gone he is looking to play a more active role in his archery end of the shop.

Just to help DrFrige be clear...

The laminated card he's talking about shows where the scoring rings are on the mfr's various targets that are likely to be used on the course.

Those scoring rings don't always coinside with where you would want your arrow to hit in order to kill the animal.  Usually, the course is set up where the archer isn't shooting broadside and that is partially responsible for the scoring rings being different from where you would put the arrow if it was a real hunting situation.

Exactly.
