Ok so I am a complete newbie to archeary and what not.

I have had a play with a few very cheap crossbow pistols that broke and I was the first to get a bulls eye at like 50 meters at school camp many years ago with a basic bow.

I want to get a cross bow thats easy to use and with atlest enough power behind it to take out a deer or pig.

Cheers

Do you have any bow dealers in your area or do you have to mail order?

I have to mail order as the only bow dealers are a days drive away or limited to cheap plastic ones made in china that snap with little use.

Most modern crossbows now will work for deer or pigs.  Check your hunting regulations, around here it is no less than #150.  Keep your range in mind, it is usually more limited than people think.
Anyway, Horton makes good crossbows for the money.  They have many different models depending on what you want to spend.  Ten-point xbows are really nice, but they command a steep price.  I've never been a fan of Barnett, although I'm sure some will disagree.  Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

Ten point makes a well designed cross bow.  I've shot one and my dad shot his bear with one.  They are louder than conventional compounds.

What he said.
You are not invincible.  Yes it holds like a rifle, it's not one.
My dad has a Barnett, due to age and medical conditions he uses a cross bow.  If it were mine I'd wrap it around a tree.   I have shot a few horton's owned by friends and they were pretty nice.

As stated, whatever you get, enjoy.
