I am thinking of getting a new camera and looking for suggestions.
First off, I want something that is bullet proof. Nothing real fancy is needed, but I don't want to screw around with it either. Image stabilization is a nice feature. HD video and sound. High res pictures would be nice, but does not have to be crazy high res. I mostly want something to cart around out in the woods to document my hiking experiences so it needs to be fairly rugged. Optical zoom - maybe 5-6X. Maybe something with an automatic lens cap. 16G or capability for SD cards in that range. USB. Prefer something without a huge lens out in front to get in the way. I am currently using a canon powershot and I find it kind of bulky. It would be nice to be able to hang it in a small camera pouch on the strap of my pack. ETA - My initial thought some time ago was something like a Kodak play sport. It has most of what I want and seems pretty bullet proof, but they are going out of the camera business. |
