| The temps are dropping here, and there was even some flurries earlier this week, so my mind is shifting towards winter preparation. I put the covers on my outside faucets already, now I am planning to drag the snow blower out of the barn and get it ready for service. I am going to try the silicone spray on the inside to see if that helps it out. I have to get kerosene for the heater and give it a good cleaning along with a good burn to make sure it is ready to be used. Our camper was already taken care of and put away. The mower will probably have to be last since I have plenty of leaves left to deal with. What is everyone else doing to get ready for the cold months ahead? Any tips/tricks that work for you? |
| Make sure your vehicles have been winterized...winter windshield wash, snow tires, durable ice scraper and brush, small shovel, etc. Do you have a winter emergency kit in your car: surplus wool blanket, couple bottles of water, emergency ration bars, flashlights & extra batteries, road flares, etc. Consider buying snowshoes with built built in ice cleats. I've found that having strap-on ice cleats for your footwear also come in very handy too. I actually placed third in a winter 3 gun shoot (had snow, ice on the ground) not because I'm a superior shot, but because I had faster times fom wearing my ice cleats thus getting way better traction than my fellow competitors. |

That's funny! Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part. |
