Duplicates from my trip report Pedernales Falls SP (1-22 through 1-24).....before it falls off to archive. Me and my quarters for the weekend. Saturday morning after some MH eggs in tortillas with MRE tabasco and instant coffee.....good eats. The cook area always seemed to end up right by my setup. Gear on the ground is from breakfast for all three of us.  Another shot of camp. Me and cam_pin on the left. Sleeping on the ground is for Neanderthals.  View of the Pedernales River from the bluff. Primitive area is high on a bluff above the river due to flash floods that can occur in this area.  Shot of the "dry" creek bed we hiked down to a spring that's always been flowing for me on every trip.  Tobacco Creek spring flows right out of the rock above my right elbow. I used to drink it un-treated in my "bullet proof" younger days. Never had a problem but I'm not bullet proof anymore.  Pumping into a Nalgene for my buddy. (He doesn't have a quick-link for his camelbak). Quick-links are the shit for pumping directly into your bladder. I wish the water in east Texas looked like this.  Shot down the bluff direcltly below our camp. Hard to tell but it's about 40-50 feet to the rocks below.  Me sleeping like a baby Sunday morning before my buddy started f-ing with me. I like sleeping with the bug net open if the mosquitos aren't bad. There we none to be seen the entire weekend.  My ugly mug after my "buddy" woke me from a good sleep. We made breakfast sunday morning, packed up and hiked out. Drove to the other side of the park for the main attraction, Pedernales Falls. Random Pics of the falls:

Umm... Have a couple thousand camping photos. Been to Glacier National Park 9 times so I guess I will post some of there. Grinnell Lake, the falls are of course run off from Grinnell Glacier:  Part of the trail up to the lake, gf included:  Lake Josephine. Maybe about 0800 hours:  A little friend we made on the trip:  His slightly larger brother we met later:  Red Rock Falls:  Top of Logan's Pass:  These of course are just some photos that seem to come out nicer then others. Maybe 6-700 photos just from my most recent visit...

My version of "Camping" is a little bit on the larger scale....
I work for a remote logistics company www.taigaventures.com and we set up remote camps all over AK and anywhere else people can afford to have them. 
Tanaga Island, we were the first group to set foot on it since 1948.. 
Before the army left, they ran all their eqipment on the runway, dropped the oil pans and ran them til they locked up so nobody else could use the base against them.

my family goes on an annual 4wheelin trip. havnt gone realy far, just SD badlands and some places in MN and WI. uselly end up bringing around 15-20 wheelers for a week long trip.
i gave up on the tent thing a few years ago, when a storm took it out while we were out wheeling. so we all have campers now. i didnt want to pay (and didnt have) the money to buy a toy hauler, so i built my own out of a 22foot car hauler trailer and a 11.5 foot truck camper. works GREAT and only cost me $2k! in the convoy stopping in the bad lands 
and wheelin there

Did an overnight canoe trip with my sons Scout Troop last weekend.... #2 son, he's been paddling since he was 4...  The kids were joking saying we were on the Amazon..at times it was hard to believe we were in such a densely populated state...  #1 sons hammock and Guide Gear tarp....the only way to camp!  gotta take the time to play!   and every good campsite needs rope swing!  |

Tim, the pup did great, he was a natural. Slept all the way through the whole night and didnt even wake up when the coyotes were making noise a short way off. We just got back from another overnighter and he alerted a couple times when people came near the campsite, just like he's supposed to. J75, the fishing is great there. |

I never uploaded these after the trip last August and I didn't take very many at all. I had just bought the truck bed tent and this was the first trip with it. I was very happy with it, however it never rained so I really didn't get to evaluate how it performed (like I was disappointed about that  )Anyway, here are the only four pictures I took the whole trip:    My nutritious lunch...  We're going back in three weeks and I'm pumped! |

Went up to Virgina for the week and spent some time in the Shanendoah. We were not roughing it or anything cause of the wife unit was along for the ride, but we stayed at the Big Meadows campground on the Skyline drive.
this was home for me and the wife, the kids had my old Eureaka tent 
some of the neighbors: 
the "anguishing" 7 mile hike that I made the wife par-take in  . The New Jersey came right out after about 6 miles . I finally had enough and told her "More walking and less bitching, we'll get there faster." She didn't like that at all, but she finally shut up.
We visited 2 water falls. Lots of bear sign, and I mean lots
