Is anyone else addicted to fires? It's 20 degrees here and have a fire going outside and in the fireplace.

I've never wanted to burn houses.buildings,etc..not a pyro,just enjoy a fire.

There's something magical about it for the kids too, cooking hotdogs, marshmallows may be it,but for me-it just relaxes me.

There's just something peaceful about it, isn't there.

I've been known to get a fire going in the outdoor pit, pour a glass of Crown Royal over a cube or two, and just relax in the hammock for a few hours.

I personally think it's the flicker of the fire that mesmorizes you, allowing you to just totally relax.

think it's at the core of man... fire is the biggest force we can bring to bear against nature. It's a large part of mans destiny and goes back as far as we do.

plus it warms your ass up when it's cold and wet... ;)

I'm always up all night too. My lady and I call the fire "Caveman T.V."

I used to get all my firewood for free and we had many a fire in the fireplace as well as burning wood for heat in a monster Vermont Castings woodstove. We got away from it when I lost my source of free wood and my wife started liking the lack of dust and ash in the house. If you have to buy the wood, that's some expensive BTUs. I installed a set of gas logs in our living room fireplace about a month ago and the wife and I are really happy with them I'm using bottle gas and it has all the bennies of a wood fire and none of the mess. The set we have has a really nice flame pattern and it's a vent-free set so none of the heat goes up the chimney.

We've had evenings with just the fire going and some music on, no TV and it's been great. I have to agree with the caveman TV idea as well. Now if I can just convince her that the lambskin would work great in front of the hearth for more than just decoration.

I LOVE a fire.
When I'm outside or inside, doesn't matter to me.
When I'm camping I HAVE to have a campfire. No ifs ands or buts.
