Well I bought a Larue FDE 7.62 Heavy, and the 18" and 22" .260 barrels, and FDE 34mm scope mount. With that said I have a Ruger RPR with a 3-18X50 gen 2 Razor. I am thinking about mounting the Razor on the Larue, and getting a new scope for the RPR.
I was thinking about going with alittle more magnification. I see that SWFA has a sale going on for the SS HD 5-20x50 for $1274, but this would require new rings and wouldn't be much more magnification. https://swfa.com/catalog/product/view/id/105472/?___SID=U Or I was looking at the Primary Arms platinum DEKA 6-36x56. Could use the same rings I have already, saving close to the price difference between the two. http://www.primaryarms.com/new-primary-arms-platinum-series-6-30x56-ffp-scope-with-deka-mil-reticle-pa6-30x56ffp-deka-ams I want to get a scope back on it soon. But since I spent close to $5000 with Larue, I don't have the buget to drop $2000+ on another Razor. I might check the EE for some but even used NF, and Gen 2 Razors are going for $1900+. So whats the Hives opinion? |

IMO the answer is always night force. paying top dollar for "premium" china scopes boggles my mind. even the SS is supposed to be a value scope. $1250?????

View Quote I might end up getting a Night Force off the EE. But wanted to see if others have used these. Just don't want to let the rifle sit scopeless while I play with the new toy . Afraid the RPR might not get a second chance if it sit idle. I still have to order a case or 2 of Prime .260 Remington. Also have 3 cans I am getting ready to send tax money in for in a week or so. Then order reloading dies, supplies, so the scope budget of $2500 won't be replinished tell around year end. |

Either the Nightforce ATACR 4-16 F1 or GII Razor 3-18 would be a solid choice. Those are two very impressive scopes and can be had for under $2,000 (used).

I'm a Kahles guy. 624i is a nice optic.

I got it at the Costco.

Red Hawk Rifles has some Swavorski demos on sale.

Have you looked at the Athlon Cronus line ?
It's a great option in place it higher than the vortex and primary arms. And I own all three. |

NF 5-25 ATACR F1 MIL-R
Just do it. |

The OP doesn't have the budget for an expensive scope but people keep recommending $2000+ dollar scopes? Doesn't help him much.
OP take a look at the Vortex Gen II PST 5-25x50. It's about $1099 and comes with some nice features like a true zero stop, clickless zeroing, 10 mil knobs, good usable reticle and very good glass. It's a solid optic that will work on the RPR. |

What is OP's budget?
The Nightfroce SHV F1 would be tough to beat in the $1200ish range. Great scope for the money. |

Why not a Gen I Razor? They can be had for around 1200$ used and close to 1400$ from certain vendors. The glass in mine isn't far off from my Razor Gen 2. The turrets and zero stop aren't as nice as the gen 2, but it'll get the job done at an attractive price point. The gen 2 PST may be a solid choice as well. If the glass was as good or better than the Gen 1 Razor, it'd be a no brainer.
Also, what is the purpose of the RPR? If it won't see hard use or competition, you may could go with great glass with less features to cut costs. |

The Razor 5-20x would be a good choice. You can find them used around $1200. Lots of good features.
The NF F1 is only a 4-14x scope and it appears the OP wants a higher power than his 18x that he has now. |

I might look at the gen 1 razor. The Gen 2 might have spoiled me to much thou. I was hoping to be closer to $1500 but think I want to settle in the $2000 range. I'm searching the ee now, and it's promising. I will mostly be shooting the rpr 600-1000yrds.

Well there is your answer, grab that 4.5-27 and enjoy.
Having the same reticle and turrets is worth the extra money. Plus you love your 3-18. |

Why not a a Sightron slll?
I heavily recommend you look at Athlon and Primary Arms. |

it will be interesting to see the reviews on the PA. Guessing LOW sourced glass?
I've tested the Ares side by side against a SIlI. The Ares has good glass for its price and feature set, but the SIII is better optically. Also, if you're used to the Razor Gen 2 turrets, you'll likely find the Ares turrets lacking a positive feel. |

A little higher budget and you could get into an Athlon Cronus. I've yet to see anything negative on them.
Or the Gen II Vortex Viper PST. The only drawback here in 50mm vs 56mm. May not matter much to you though. I've been stewing on this same issue lately and have yet to make up my mind. I'm torn between the Cronus and Steiner T5Xi (upgraded turrets). |

Why would you spend top dollar on a high end weapon and then want to put a cheap scope on it? Save your money and match the scope to the rifle. NF would be my suggestion.

Another vote for nightforce. Keep an eye on the EE and you will see NXS 3.5-15x scopes go for around $1100 on a fairly regular basis. If you want a cheaper scope that is still built well, consider a basic bushnell tactical 10x scope. If purchased used on the EE they will run you a touch over $150. They are great scopes for the money.
I would also echo others that have said buy good glass. Even if that means you have to save for a bit. Honestly its cheaper in the long run and it will save you frustration. |
