77gr SMK 22.5gr IMR4064 WSR or CCI 400 primers OAL: 2.250" From a non-FF 16" carbine slung prone, strung horizontally 1.5 MOA (likely my fault), but held vertical consistently at 0.5 MOA. Slower MV than preferred for midrange work. ~50gr SMK or VMAX 25gr IMR4064 WSR or CCI 400 primers OAL: 2.250" Fills up into the neck - slightly compressed. MOA capable from a NM service rifle. |

Out of a Savage 10 PC 20" 1:9 .223
Hornady Brass CCI BR-4 Primer 75gr BHTP 23.0 gr Varget 2.250" OAL with light crimp Sub moa out of my rifle without any signs of pressure .5gr short of max load, so I'm going to stay here and not tinker with it. I do want to try the 75gr AMax in the spring and see how it performs. |

77 grain smk load for my semi auto:
23.4 grains H4895 PMC brass Remington 7 1/2 primers 2661 fps 18" barrel ar15 I have shot a 5 round group at 900 yards with this load with about 4" of vertical spread and about 8" of horizontal spread so sub moa. My 69 grain smk load for semi auto: 24.2 grains H4895 PMC brass Remington 7 1/2 primers 2777 fps 18" barrel ar15 This load is slightly better at 100 yards than my 77 grain load, but the 69 grain load is limited to around 600 yards and definitely goes to crap around 700 yards. |

69 grain MK, 25.0 to 25.2 grains of Reloder 15, Winchester, WCC, LC, or Lapua cases, Remington 7 1/2 primers, and seated to 2.260 COAL is pretty well a standard load for .223 Rem ammunition. 52 grain MK's, 27.0 to 27.4 grains of Reloder 15, Winchester, WCC, LC, or Lapua cases, Remington 7 1/2 primers, bullet seated to 2.25 inches COAL is a reliably accurate load that will measure the potential accuracy of your rifle. The powder charge is compressed; 27.0 grain fills the case to the bottom of the neck, 27.4 grains to the top of the neck. 27.4 grains is too much, it's too hard to keep from spilling powder before getting the bullet seated. Good neck tension is required to prevent the compressed powder from pushing the bullet part way out of the case. Pressure is low, in my experience 26.8 grains allows soot too far down the case body. |

Using the pull down 8208, not the xbr:
LC09 brass 50 grain Nosler Ballistic tip 25.2 grains of the above mentioned powder #41 primer Seating depth varies from rifle to rifle. Usually 2.260. One holer at 100. I haven't the chance to go further. This combo goes about 3300ish, if I remember correctly. Same bullet, same primer, FC brass 2.260 seating depth, 27.5 of Winchester 748. This one clocks in at 3050 fps, kind of slow, but gave me 1 1/2 inch groups at 300 yards. My wife shot a 1.1 inch group at 300 one day. Five shots, so a half group. |

Sometimes the meplat of the SMK can drag a little bit but with correct neck tension it won't make a difference. I find Hornady's meplats to be very consistent while Sierra's aren't. If I was really worried about it I'd get a trimmer. |

Someone already posted my heavy bullet loads, this one was my first precision load. I started with a 1/12" FN barreled AR, and it was very consistent for groundhogs. It also shoots well in my Savage and 1/9 SBR.
55gr Vmax 26.5gr H4895 2.250 coal, I tried going a little longer, but it didn't seem to matter in the Savage, and the AR likes this length.. Malaysian surplus or LC 09 brass. The LC seems to have a little less volume, but I didn't notice much difference in velocity CCI 400 primers I don't remember how fast they were, and I don't seem to have written it down. If I think about it I will try to get a reading before it snows. The Savage likes 69gr loads a little better, but these are devastating on groundhogs and coyotes. |

A new load I tried today from my precision AR. Called flier for the shot high of center. Ignore the shots marked with "X" as those were from my daughter on another target.
24Gr CFE 223 68gr Hornady HPBT Match 2.230" OAL. 8 shots solidly within 1", with the 9th just outside of that. Looks like the load has potential for sure. Need to put it on the chrony and play with it a bit.

I load for USGI magazines to 2.26 inches COAL and let them sneak out a little, close to 2.265 inches. That should leave five thousandths of an inch clearance. I've never had a feed or function problem. However, I have one commercial magazine that will not swallow any cartridge longer than 2.25 inches, so we have to confirm the length according to the equipment we're using. |

52/53 grain Hornady/SMK/Nosler match bullets
2.250" OAL Lake City or Winchester brass Remington 7.5 primers 23.0 grains of H322 20.6 grains of H4198 26.0 grains of WW-748 Other powders to consider are LT-32, AA-2015, VihtaVuori N133, RE-10X. Faster powders really hammer with these lighter bullets. |

Recorded this past summer.
18" noveske with 8208, 77cc @2.257" Winchester cases and primers. 23 grains = 2637 for 5 with SD of 18 23.5 grains = 2682 for 5 with SD of 6 > this proved the best of the three with 10 shot groups at 300y holding under 1.5 moa, but the other two were not far behind. 23.8 grains = 2700 for 6 with SD of 15 16" sabre defense 75 bthp Hornady 8208 in FC brass and WSR 23 grains 2600 for 4 SD of 10 23.8 grains 2700 for 5 SD of 30 Recorded Feb14th 2015 at 14 degrees with one hour of transport from 70 degree house 18" FN chrome lined barrel, rifle gas, with 8208, 77cc @2.257" Wolf Gold cases and Winchester primers. 23 grains = 2621 for 4 with SD of 12 23.5 grains = 2670 for 4 with SD of 11 23.8 grains = 2692 for 4 with SD of 24 Recorded this past summer. 69 grain Nosler CC @ 2.253 with H4895 @ 24.4 = best load that works well in all my AR uppers and Remington Tactical 20" factory barrel 16" Sabre Defense, mid gas = 2768 18" Noveske,= 2829 18" FN = 2851 20" Rem Tac = 2854 |

Made it out to test some loads yesterday. Thanks to HighPoweredRifleBrony for the tips.
Rifle didn't like the Hornady BTHP's at all, but the SMK's got all the love. 16" 1:7 midlength WOA barrel 52gr SMK 25gr H4895 OAL: 2.250" Shot this off my day pack, seated, no rear rest. Distance is 100yrds. The 0.98" is outside to outside.

I concur. For me, the best accuracy with the 77gr TMK was found at 22.7 grs of 8208xbr at 2670fps from 20" barrel. |
